Rates of endocytosis vary from cell to cell type. What cell would be predicted to have the highest rate of endocytosis?

A) Macrophages
B) Erythrocytes
C) Osteoblasts
D) Neurons

Answer is A. Macrophages engulf foreign particles via phagocytosis, which is a completely different process from endocytosis. Why would this be the answer? I chose C, osteoblasts, since they uptake calcium from the bloodstream to build matrices for bone formation.

I don't think Osteoblasts use endocytosis for calcium transport. I think that's mainly achieved by channel proteins and ATP fuelled Ca pumps.

The cell that would use endocytosis the most would be macrophages.
