I was just looking for the fun of it on here and someone posted a TON of unmatched GPR positions. If a position remains unmatched, what does this mean for someone looking to get into a GPR position? Can they apply to those positions? Do they have an increased chance of getting into one of them? I'm not sure how the system works so I was just curious. If someone applies for a GPR and doesn't match, but a position where they applied hasn't been filled, can the person contact the program director? Would this improve their chances of getting in? I'm not sure I get it completely 😉

Thanks

Each program handles post-match differently. I actually contacted one of the GPR programs in my area that didn't fill all their spots about a week after the match results had come out. They had a ton of people contacting them already and wanted to fill the empty spots as fast as possible. It was a mad rush to get all the LORs and transcripts to them, but it all worked out and I got into the program. The day I interviewed was the day before they made their decision.

If there are any programs you're thinking of looking into, I would advise contacting them ASAP. The ones that are seriously looking at filling all their spots are probably full already though.
