I took two pre-req courses at another university closer to home during a summer session and ended up getting a 1.5 GPA (the school's Academic Probation is 1.6 GPA I believe)... I repeated it at my own university over the school year and did better...

My questions are... I can't find it saying anywhere that I got put on academic probation. Is there any way to find out? Is it listed on the transcript??

So, does this still count and do I need to report it on my AADSAS application (under the part where it asks if we have ever had any academic disciplinary action) and explain it?

No, unless something official happened, like you got a letter or something, nothing actually happened. Often times rules during the Summer Semesters aren't as strict. Though, you'll have to list those classes on your AADSAS application.

It's not listed on your transcript, just a warning if you keep it up, you'll be kicked out of their school and that's when the real problem happens. I've had a couple of AP's during my undergraduate year. As long as you show an increasing trend and not a decreasing or sporadic trend, you should be fine.

I hope this helps. I was in a similar situation like urs. With the exception that my GPA was a little lower...... 1.06 dont ask! I was on probation and eventually I decided to transfer after my 2nd semester b/c I was being stalked ad harassed. This was the reason I just completely fell of the academic band wagon. but what you can do is explain your circumstances in the hardships section of ur app and if possible a little in ur personal statement.

As soon as I transferred to a diff school, my GPA went back up to a 3.8. So if you are able to show that you are capable of bouncing back from something that stressful you are capable of being successful... ect. but dont let that one thing get you down. they look at you as a total package, not just one section. Good luck

lastly, I dont believe it shows that you were placed on probation on ur transcripts. One can only assume with a GPA like that.... but they'll ask you about ur circumstances hat led to u having such a low GPA... and u can tell them. but it's not considered as having disciplinary action against you.

You got a 1.5 GPA, and you're worried about whether the "academic probation" designation will be on your transcript? These people don't just glance over the transcript and move to the next, they actually read them. Aren't you at all worried that they're going to see a 1.5 GPA and say "wow! this guy couldn't even pass the class." At that point, whether you were on academic probation or not probably doesn't matter.

Actually, strike my last comment from the record. At that point, whether you were on academic probation or not DEFINITELY does not matter. The "academic probation" designation is superfluous and means nothing. It's your terrible performance that matters.

That said, there's a lot you can make of this. You should focus on what you're doing to prove that you're an exceptional candidate and, if asked in an interview, just own up to the fact that your performance was terrible and don't make excuses. Focus on how you improved your performance in these classes and worked hard to ensure it would never happen again. Focus on the silver lining, not the pathetically black cloud. As an aside, I've taken many challenging college courses (as we all have) and I must say, you really have to try to do that poorly, so congrats.

The reason you do not see the word "probation" somewhere on the transcript is because your cumulative GPA(many previous semesters) is not below 1.6. You got 1.5 for this particular semester does not mean they place you on academic probation. Unless, this 1.5 added in with other GPA from your past semesters get below 1.6, then, you will see the word "academic probation" . So, don't try to look for it.

Call or visit the Registrar's Office for the school where you earned the low GPA. Explain your situation and ask them if any designation will appear on your transcript.

Unlike "Da Princess" who replied earlier, many of us have an ugly period in our academic record that we'd rather forget. Keep your head up and your eyes on the goal!

You shouldn't have to list it really but I believe the 1.5 semester GPA really speaks for itself.
