Did anyone with "good" but not amazing credentials (includes GPA, MCAT score, EC's) get an offer from a medical school (preferably Canadian) d/t having a great CASPER? I know CASPer marks are not given to us, but perhaps it was mentioned in an interview for example? Just wondering, because for McMaster, the GPA, MCAT (VR), and CASPer are weighted equally....

Thanks 🙂

*I know "good" is subjective; what I mean is MCAT 504-510 (VR score 126-128), GPA 3.5-3.7, a variety of EC's but no going to another country to save a village type of deal.

No

No interviewer is going to tell an applicant that they only got an interview because of X factor because that's almost never how it works, even if it was how it worked they wouldn't tell you that, AND even if that was how it worked and they wanted to tell you you're not allowed to release CASPer scores.

You seem to know that Canadian schools have very specific breakdowns and aren't holistic at all, so like you said Mac determines whether you get an interview by giving you a score that's 33% GPA 33% CARS and 33% CASPer. You don't get an interview "because" of anything other than your composite score. Not sure what you were hoping to glean from this question, especially at a school like Mac there's nothing even remotely subjective about how you get an interview.

There is a big difference between a 504 and a 510 mcat. For most schools in regards to Casper I do not think it would have a significant effect but it could rule people out that score lower.

People don't get into med school because of a single outstanding metric. It's a pre-med delusion to think otherwise.

The practice purpose of using CAPSER score is still highly unknown...remember only a small number of schools are asking for it.

I understand that (33:33:33 after all), but I was wondering if doing exceptionally well in CASPer could tip the scale in your favor despite other odds.

You don't even know how it will be scored and how scores will be distributed among applicants.
For example, if full score is just 1, and certain amount of bad responses will cause a 0.
How you gonna use that to differentiate applicants? 1 will not bet you an interview, but a 0 may be enough to reject.

And a number of them are only using it as a test run and won't actually be factoring into their application processes/assessment this year.
