Acceptance Thread

Well, I'm all done with this part of my life. I'm getting ready to move to where ever... My stats are now as follows: 12 applications, 7 interview offers, attended 5 interviews, 4 acceptances and 1 waitlist. Not bad considering a month ago I would have given up my first born to get just one acceptance. Choosing a school is really hard too. In the end I had to go with the program that afforded the best NP opportunities for me and the best job prospects for my wife. It's too bad I couldn't combine the best of each program to create the "perfect" match for me, but I really can't complain. Thank you everyone who provided great advice and encouragement along the way. I'm so glad this is over, but, apparently, the hard work begins in the fall...

Hipinion: I have no idea how you kept it quiet. I think I could have, but it would not have been fun, so I am glad I got my acceptance the traditional way.

Sorg: Are you leaving us? Don't leave until we at least get a thread going where we all post where we are going. I have been debating when the right time would be to start that thread, but I have been looking forward to it for a long time. It was really fun to watch last year!

Thanks! It was really hard not to post the info immediately, as it marked the end to a whoooole 3 years saga of applying, but I'm definitely very excited about going to UNC.

Congrats! Glad you made it this year--I think I'm going to be on my 3rd year soon. 🙁

Hmm, I already have a firstborn. Can I give him up for one of your acceptances? I swear he's well-behaved, toilet trained and everything! 😀

J/K--congrats on your choices! I really do not know how those of you with multiple acceptances can decide. After visiting my first top choice, it's still my top choice but there are definitely parts of other programs that I like certain aspects of a heck of a lot more. I couldn't imagine deciding between 'em . . . and looks like I won't have to!

G'luck to you & your wife with your future endeavors. :luck:

Awww it's okay, I'll be on my 2nd year and we can stress out together again in a year. 🙂

blah, at this point, I'm wondering if I should wait more than a year before I reapply. Don't know if it's worth it to start again so soon. We shall see! G'luck to all of us without acceptances! :luck: I'd be curious to know the percentage of students who are rejected and simply find something else to do & never bother to apply again.

You had interviews though didn't you? That means they're at least interested in you.

I'll bet lots of people give up. I considered it while I was still adjusting to the idea of being rejected, but now I'm coming up with ideas about what I could do for the next year.

Plus you never know, you could still get accepted somewhere since it's not even March yet.

I apologize for my annoying optimism, I haven't eaten all day and that messes with my usually bitter personality. 😀

Yes, I've had interviews. I am the queen of waitlists. My last cycle, the same thing happened. I was waitlisted which did me no good. This cycle, I am waitlisted, which will do me no good. But, oh, "they sent you some really nice letters" (from my husband) . . . but, really nice rejections still do me no good. blah, I'm also the queen of pessimism  -- I should put that on my accomplishments/awards/recognitions section during the next app cycle.

No I'm not leaving. I just wanted to see it in writing that my interviews are done and I can do something else with my time now. I plan on sticking around and chiming in every once in a while.

As I posted on another thread I am pulling especially hard for your Paramour...if for no other reason than I don't want to get hit with eggs 🙂. Good luck and don't give up yet!

moved to the rejection thread.. whoops.

 You don't really think that I would throw eggs at you, do you? Besides, if you only get one acceptance, then I'll only throw one egg at you . . . seems fair enough :meanie: . Congrats--here's an egg! 😀

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this thread and although I just joined I have been reading it for quite awhile. Thank you all so much for sharing your information. I was wondering if anyone had heard from NIU or Loyola Chicago post-invite (Clinical Psychology)?

I haven't heard from NIU yet, they said they would be letting everyone know if they were getting an offer or on the waitlist yesterday or today...but nothing yet!

That should be "post-interview" not post invite.

Thanks! Yeah I remember them saying that at the interview so I have been constantly checking my email (like that will really help!). Its good to know that other people have not heard either.

Thanks! I remember them saying that at the interview but I was worried that I hadnt heard. Its good to know others are in the same boat.

I have had three of four interviews, and they were all only last week. I still have one more to go. However, I am now officially dying of anxiety. I really wasn't anxious during the application or interview process. It all seemed like great fun, get to go to new places and meet really interesting people and all that. However, now that (at least in my mind) it's time for me to be hearing from schools, I am pretty much a wreck.
so ...
anybody hear anything post-interview from:
U Oregon
U Missouri-St. Louis
Georgia State
(clinical programs)

I got a phone call from Catholic University today saying that I was one of their top alternates, so they must have offers out. Even if I did get an offer I doubt I would be able to take it because of funding, but I am trying to keep an open mind about it and see what they can offer should I get to that point.

Anyways, I just thought I would let all the other Catholic U people know!

I just got an email from NIU informing me that I had been accepted. 🙂

 Glad I'm not the only one--I just got out of class and had to check my email immediately. I was hoping they'd let us know yesterday, but apparently not to be. Now if I hear nothing by the end of today, then I'm going to end up a wee bit anxious.

Congratulations!🙂 I also interviewed there and am curious who your POI is, if you don't mind sharing. Feel free to PM, too.

Anyone heard from BU? Interview was weeks ago but haven't seen anyone posting!

I'm waiting to hear from Loyola, too, but since I interviewed almost a month ago I guess I'm just used to waiting! Anyone heard from Pitt yet? They were supposed to contact their 'first choice' people last week or early this week. I am guessing that I'm not anyone's first choice. 🙄

Had anyone heard anything post-interview from IUPUI? Did anyone else interview there?

University of Wyoming clinical psychology 😀

I just officially accepted my offer for UNC and declined everywhere else, so there should now be spots open at Duke, Vandy, and Minnesota!

I just recieved acceptances today from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Arizona State University. I will be freeing up spots by turning down offers for the acceptances I recieved at UMSL, University of Missouri-Columbia, and potentially University of Minnesota Child Clinical program within the next day or two. Good luck everyone!

Has anyone heard from Harvard for clinical psych?

Ok... I'm afraid to ask, but has anyone heard from Rutgers PhD? 😕

By the way, for those of you who have decided where you are headed I did start up a thread where you can post your final destination or at least your destination for the next year or two. It was a lot of fun last year and I really encourage you to post over there if you have accepted an offer and don't mind saying where you will be going (or again, if you are rebelling against the system and doing something completely different next year). It should be a fun thread!

My application status on their website still says "No Decision". I sent them an email this weekend, stating that I keep checking their website and it says no decision, and asking if they can give me any more information. The response I got said "Please be advised that you can check your application status online through the Graduate Admissions website."
Thanks, I already told you I knew about that.
It went on to say "The department is still in the process of making decisions, and you will be formally notified as to your status as soon as a decision has been made. Please be advised that if your application status is "pending," it means a decision regarding your application has not yet been made."

Maybe we will all hear something soon...

GAClinPsych: I heard from Georgia State today.
Ohgod: The clinical psych assistant at Harvard told me that all notifications were made already.
Dubbs07: Haven't heard anything from Pitt...
ResearchGirlie: Haven't heard from BU either...
(all clinical programs)

I'm still holding my breath for pitt

University of Maine! Heard this morning.

Thanks, tkj! I am excited but I am still waiting to hear if I get off the post-interview wait list at my top choice...

How are you faring?

*ella:luck:

Don't know where to post this, but I just found out I am a "high alternate" at Penn State. This first somewhat good news I've heard!

I suppose "semi-congrats" are in order? 😀 G'luck!

I found out yesterday afternoon by email that I had been accepted by Wheaton PsyD! Very exciting, at least I got in somewhere! I applied 4 places... 2 interviews... 1 acceptance so far and waiting to hear from Indiana State! But, yeah for getting in!

has anyone been accepted to the University of Rochester?

Has anyone heard anything - acceptance, waitlist, rejection - from UVA, Curry?

I have been *unofficially* accepted at and will be *unofficially* attending BU, my first choice, in their clinical program, just heard from my POI yesterday. Started breathing normally again today.

Sorg - check your email dude, I wrote you back

Final Tally
12 Schools applied to
6 interviews (2 not attended)
2 acceptances
Total cost of process - 2700 dollars (GRE reports, applications, flights, etc.)
(thought this might be important for those that want to know how much it costs to do all of this)

Good luck to everyone
