Acceptance Thread

Well I just found out that I was accepted to the Ph.D. program at Pacific Graduate School of Psychology. I emailed them to ask for an update and got a reply within a few minutes.

It's my only acceptance so far (and likely will be the only one period) and the program itself is DEFINITELY one of my favourites... but since I'm in Canada and would have to prove to immigration that I have the available funds ahead of time, I'm not sure what's going to happen or if I can go. I really really want to. I guess I just have to be patient and wait for my letter, so I know who to contact for financial questions. :scared:

So YAY for finally getting an acceptance but BOO for it being the one school my line of credit isn't big enough to support. 🙁

Woo hoo! It's better than nothing. 🙂 Although the financial aspect of it does sound sort of sucky . . . g'luck trying to figure it out :luck:

At least now I know that I'm not a total reject who can't get interviews/admission anywhere. That's always a plus. And I have my money-obsessed Dad working on a solution so I'm excited while still trying to stay calm enough that I won't need medication if I have to decline. lol.

I really hope you get in somewhere so we can all be happy together. lol

RayneeDeigh,
First, Congratulations! Do anything you can to work out the funding. As I think I wrote before, I am still messing around with this whole process because I kept holding out due to funding issues. Meanwhile life keeps flitting away.

Second, now you should stop writing such melancholy posts. In fact, I think you should change your name to "SunnyDeigh". Remember, the James-Lange Theory of emotion? First you have the behavior and then the feeling: one smiles and then feels happy or cries and then feels sad not the opposite. Even if it is not completely right it is still a good theory.
 
What's up with UConn? Anyone heard anything? It's been over a month.

UConn had interviews scheduled for 2/14 also. They were canceled due to weather conditions. I opted not to attend the interviews so I don't have any further info on rescheduling, but this could contribute to thier delay in making offers.

:laugh: Okay well you got me to smile, that must count for something.

I remember the GRE being packed with James-Lange questions!

I'm gonna work on the funding issue. I know I could get loans, it's just a matter of figuring out how much debt I really want to be in later... and if it's a good enough school. Don't wanna pay $180,000 just to shoot myself in the foot later. lol

But I'm happy. 😀 See look at me smile.

I assume that the person who got accepted to U. of Denver must have PMed paramour, because I can't find the posting. I am still waiting to hear back from DU post-interview, and I am in a position where I need to make a choice about my second-choice program ASAP due to funding issues. (DU is my 1st choice). If anyone has heard from U. of Denver after attending last weekend's interview, would you please email me and give me as much info as you feel comfortable giving? (i.e., your POI, when they called, etc.) I will totally respect your privacy-- I understand it is a sensitive situation. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
 
I was accepted to the PsyD program at U of Indianapolis. I should have known on Monday, but my email got lost in the internet. Damn internet!

i think someone else has already asked, but if anyone has heard from rutgers phd post-interview, could you post or pm to paramour? thanks, it would be really helpful to know!

Brought in off the wait list actually, received email notification and a call from one of the professors I would be working with.

My POI called me this afternoon and offered me a position in his lab! I'm thrilled, since this is my first offer, with hopefully one or two more to come.
 
Widener University's Psy.D. program has begun sending out its acceptance letters. Pleased to have just gotten one. 🙂
 
Has anyone besides Hipinion heard from UNC? That was an eary/pre-interview acceptance, but have people heard post-interview?

Congrats! I heard Hobfoll speak at ISTSS last year - interesting guy, definitely not afraid of a little controversy. Working with him should be a great experience!
 
Antioch University New England Psy.D. has sent out acceptances by email.
 
No, they seem to have sent out individual emails. And I think they sent out both acceptance and rejection emails--when I was up for an interview last weekend, they said they were going to do that yesterday.

email acceptance to University of Wisconsin-Madison clinical psychology program 🙂

the way they do interviews/acceptances is very individualized, so not sure if that helps anyone!

I still have an interview there so I wouldn't worry yet. They're still interviewing through this Friday.
 
cleverclover and any other penn state people - would you mind PMing me your POI? i haven't heard anything from mine yet.. wonodering if that's a good or a bad thing.. but - great news for you guys - congrats!
 
Did anyone hear from Univ of Houston (neuropsych)? They said this past weekend that they would be making decisions today.....
