Recently I was accepted to LECOM - Bradenton. I really like the location and the feel of the school.

I have four interviews still scheduled: A.T. Still U (KCOM), Lincoln Memorial U, Midwestern (AZ), and LECOM - Erie. These are all scheduled in a few weeks. I'm wondering now if I should continue interviewing or not. This has kind of turned into an "oh no where should I go" type scenario.

Are any of these schools going to offer any more opportunities I should be aware of? I don't really know if I've seen a "ranking" of DO schools.

Great situation to be in. I'd go to at least KCOM if I were you. Oldest school, strong reputation.

You'll never know unless you go. You can't predict how a school will "feel" until you get there.

personal preference. if you could potentially want to go to those schools more than lecom, than go. if lecom is your number one choice, don't go.

and isn't quite a "where should I go" situation unless you mean which interviews should you pass on. but congrats. way awesome situation.

I'd go to the other interviews for sure. The cost is a drop compared to what you'll be spending anyway even if you attend one of the cheapest DO schools. It's always good to have options. You deserve to be picky at this point, congrats!

Ps - btw I'm definitely enjoying my first year at MWU!

I'm with him... interview more places.

I interviewed at LECOM and loved the location, cost, etc. but after really considering it I didn't think I could do PBL and remain on top of my work. On the other hand, I absolutely LOVED AZCOM when I got there, got accepted and was confident enough to withdraw from many of the other schools I had visited or considered (I had already been to 5 other interviews over 2 years). The only regret I have is not going to my KCOM interview. I had to cancel it because I couldn't take any more time off work and I had no more money 🙁 I wish I would have gotten to see the campus that started it all and who knows, maybe I would have liked it there even more.

Summary: Keep interviewing until you are either 100% absolutely certain you want to go to a school (you have to at least have a second interview to compare the schools) or you just simply don't have the money to go check out the schools anymore. If nothing else, its a good excuse to check out other areas of the country that you may never go again.

Also... AZCOM rocks... Colbare -.- gotta figure out who all you peoples are... Most people know who I am on here lol

I would stop interviewing if you liked that school. It's expensive to go to other universities to check them out and interview. The idea that you might like another campus is realistic, but if you never visit them, it's like they never existed.

I'd say this is true except for the fact that the one school the OP has been to is a PBL school. If later they decide that PBL is not for them, they have no other options if they stop interviewing now... I know it took me a while to stop convincing myself that PBL was great and perfect and realize that I would have slacked off horribly. Thats why I recommended a bare minimum of 2 schools if possible

Yeah you'd be surprised how something can seem when it's your only option. You want to be as objective as possible and when it's med school or not med school then yes, your only option looks great. At least take advantage of the chance to give yourself the opportunity to make a choice.

Disagree. The amount you spend now for interviews is worth the insight you can get into a school and program. Get a good feel for their clinical rotation sites too, DO schools are more shaky in this area due to lack of a central "home" institution and potentially spread out rotations among states.

KCOM and AZCOM would be good places to check out.

Go. At least to one or two more. After I was accepted to LECOM-B I thought that was my destination for sure. Then I interviewed at NOVA and l fell in love with the school. Point is, it's easy to get lazy after an acceptance, but the application season is still young, and if you quit now you are selling yourself short in ways you can't even imagine.

check out the cost of tuition at the other schools, I'd at least interview at the cheaper ones if there are any

👍

I would base this decision on how sure you are you will like PBL. If you are pretty confident you will like it, then you might as well stop. The tuition and location of LECOM-B are pretty great.

If you have any doubts about PBL, then you should attend at least 1-2 more interviews to keep your options open.

Congrats on the acceptance!

Thank you, glad to hear about AZCOM! My interview there is scheduled for next Friday the 16th.

I decided I'm going to go to at least 1 more interview because I am a little bit uneasy about PBL, as much as I like it. As others pointed out, a non-PBL option sounds good to have just in case.

I've thought a lot about KCOM for reputation. The only thing is I've heard Kirksville is kind of in the middle of nowhere. I'm used to city life and might have trouble getting used to that.

Beware, you'll come to AZCOM and never want to leave 😉

Don't count your eggs before the stinking chicken dropped ya few and you know there good.

I wouldn't continue interviewing if you are 100% sure you are going to be happy at Lecom. If not go to a few top choices, but I wouldn't waste money going, just to go.

I have all my schools ranked. If my number one school accepts me I would stop any more interviews and mail in my deposit. If I had an acceptance from numbers 2-5 then I would still go to the interviews of any 2-5 school since none seem to outshine the others at this point in my mind without visiting. If I had an acceptance at a 2-5 ranked school, I would not attend any interviews at schools below those ranked in the top 5, since what is the point 😉. I find having the schools ranked in terms of groupings (top, middle, bottom) helps me.

Everyone says this...most people adjust easily and you spend plenty of time studying to not notice 🙂

I had a ranking 1-5 of schools I would attend. I ended up falling in love and attending my #4. You never know until you are on campus.

yeah i would think PBL would look awesome if it was the only choice. I would definitely look more at least one other school with an entirely different curriculum, just to make sure you know what you are getting into.

and KCOM isn't kind of in the middle of nowhere. It is in the middle of nowhere. 17,000 people with farms for 30 miles all around it (at least). But it is a really nice school.

This is the type of clinic I'm working in now. Mt. Brydges, ON - Popn 20,000 - Clinic surrounded by farm fields! It's a nice place to work, but I'm glad I get to go home at night - to the city!

I'm in the same position. Except I havent even done secondaries for a few of the schools I submitted primaries for...and I think I'm going to withdraw from my others/interviews as well...mostly thought because the school I got into is right in my backyard, and it makes so much sense to be close to my family...

Interviewed at AZCOM and it's truly great there.

Ahhh, the decisions...

I am withdrawing from quite a few as well.

How did you feel about this school last year? I like the fact that they have multiple frequent tests.

uh....not sure what you are talking about. I was just saying that it was good that he didn't withdraw like his first post indicated he might do. i haven't interviewed there or gone there or ever seen the campus. maybe i will, but i will likely withdraw if i get in closer to home.

See. Aren't you glad you didn't just skip it?

Yes. The campus, the curriculum, the location, the weather. All good.

I was told that first year they have ~60 tests! Makes it impossible to get behind.

I really wanted to go here last year. Interviewing again I liked it even more.
