JUST GOT INTO HARVARD, MS EPI!

I was also just accepted to Harvard epi, via email!!

Sent sophas app dec 5th, mailed around dec 20.

Congrats everyone! woohooo!

Wow, it seems that one department is just getting all the Epidemiology ones out right now. Lucky ducks!

Congrats to everyone!

I just got an acceptance email from GW for their Health Promotion program! They were super quick - they received my application on 1/27 (according to the "application received email") and then informed me of my acceptance on 2/18!

So far (all Health Behavioral - type programs):

Accepted: Columbia, UCLA, GW
Rejected: None, yet...
Waiting: UC Berkeley, Harvard, BU, UIC

Congrats to everyone else on their acceptances!

Big congrats to those in for Harvard!!!

What program did you apply, MS or MPH?? I'm wondering if they release admission for MS first and those for MPH have to wait another couple of weeks....

Add me to the list of Harvard acceptances (MS in Epi)!

And no, my email didn't specify a concentration- just the degree and dept.

Congrats to everyone!

Yeah

my acceptance from hsph was also

MS (SM2) in epi

so i think only that department roled out emails 🙂.

So other depts don't fret yet.

Congrats to all Harvard admits! I am a bit disappointed to not have been notified, but also relieved because I am not epi so I suppose I still have a chance.

YAY! Into epi doctoral program at HSPH : )

For anyone who got a BU FinAid app by email yesterday, I tried to complete mine but couldn't submit it until I'm actually accepted. Just wondering if that was the case for anyone else...

shugar77 and HealthEdu, what programs did you apply to at U Mich? I'm still waiting on environmental health.

Me too Cissia! Would love to connect with you. Did you do the SM at HSPH?
Also, did you hear anything about funding yet? Or did you expect to?

Congrats!!! Yes, I'm just finishing my second year here. Haven't heard anything official about funding. In past years students have complained that to took a while (longer than other programs) to hear back about funding. It has been brought up to the department, but I'm not sure there is anything they can do to expedite the process. Send a PM if you would like to chat more : )

Thanks! I also only applied to michigan so I'm kind of on edge!

Hey guys... Congrats on all of the acceptances! I've just been reading through the thread and wanted to post where I'm at in this whole process. BTW my nerves have been on edge this entire last week!

GPA: 3.69 (German)
GRE: 640V 660Q
Experience
1 Accepted ph related study to be published in conf. proceedings
Currently coauthoring 2 ph studies... One submitted this week
EMT certification and volunteer experience

I also applied really close to the deadline on everything (Except JHSPH and Brown). Also, I applied to all BS/HE MPH programs (and a couple MS programs).

Accepted: UT Houston, Emory, TAMU, Dartmouth, Michigan

Waiting: JHSPH (MSPH Social Factors in Health), Yale, Tulane, Brown, BU, UMass Amherst, Columbia

No rejections yet... Has anyone applied to the MHS (now MSPH) program at Hopkins in Social Factors of health?!? If so, have you heard anything back from them?

Also, anyone get any rejections/acceptances just through snail mail for the schools I'm waiting on?!? Good luck to everyone!

Woahhhhh

Is it a Havard's day today?

Congratulations you Havard guys.

👍

Ugghh frustrating. My UT app was sent in around that time too. Oh the agony -__-

I didn't know that UMDNJ had a secondary app that we need to fill! Maybe I can cut to the chase and send it to them before they have to ask me about it. I haven't heard from them since forever, too =(

Thanks for the info, Ashy

FYI about UTH... They posted on Sophas under "school decisions" that I had been accepted 2 days before I received an email from them. It was a fluke I checked SOPHAS- so you may want to keep a look out there!

Just got accepted for epi MPH, my second choice at Emory! First choice was global epi.

Accepted: Tulane (epi mph), Emory (epi mph)
Rejected: Emory (global epi mph)
Waiting: USF (global epi joint program), UTHouston (epi), BU (epi)

Honestly, Emory is pretty much my first choice so I'm tempted to just go ahead and commit now, especially since very soon I'm going to be abroad without reliable internet access for 2 months. But I'm so concerned about the debt...and USF (Florida resident) and UT would be SO much cheaper...I don't know what to do. 😳

Congrats on the Emory acceptance! I'm worried about the mega cost difference between Emory and UTH as well (since I'm a Texas resident UTH is way cheap)...

Woahhhhh

Is it a Havard's day today?

Congratulations you Havard guys.

👍
How did you hear about your Yale decision? I'm still waiting to hear back... they sent an email a couple weeks back saying that it was under review...

A friend I've mentioned a couple of times heard back from Emory, she got accepted to Global Environmental Health (GEH)...we applied at the same time and I got my acceptance from Global Health in December so she was really worried, but they told her when she got accepted that GEH is much slower in getting out acceptances than other departments, so if you're waiting for GEH from Emory then don't fear, they are still making decisions!!

I don't think I'll see mine on there 'cause I applied for a dual degree via a paper form application. I still checked though, as soon as I read this, haha. No news yet -_-

Thanks for the heads up, though!

hey jbsdentist,
i got into UTH too but haven't heard abt scholarship from them,,whr did u do ur bds from? i m from india too

Hi ashy22k,
Nice to hear from u. I have done my BDS from GDC,MUMBAI.
So u r from which college?
I waiting for reply from HSPH. keeping my fingers crossed.:xf:
I got an acceptance e mail from Uth but no say on scholarship in it. I suppose they'll send separate mail stating scholarship.

Hey eddymay,
I think you missed my reply to your last post. I applied to HBHE at UMich (and I think shugar77 did too), so it's possible that your dept is on a different schedule. Hope you hear soon - good luck!

I got into Harvard today as well! Health and Social Behavior dept. Excited as I will likely be going here 🙂

Hey! Congratulations!! I also applied for the Health and Social Behavior concentration. Did you apply for MS or MPH?

I finally got an acceptance! 😀 I was starting to think that maybe I wouldn't get in anywhere. I had some issues in my first two years of college that tanked my gpa, so I ended up with a 2.8. My gre scores were also not where they should be 530 v, 590 q, 4 aw. I think my saving grace is that I'm 6 years out of undergrad and have 3 years of experience directly related to what I want to do - reproductive health.

Accepted: GW (MCH)
Rejected: UW, Columbia
Waiting on: Tulane, Emory, BU

Congrats, ebp!

I have been feeling the same way (although no acceptances or rejections). My GRE scores are in the same range and I've been out of school for about 10 years. I have international experience and work at an NGO. Anyway, your good news gave me some hope. I think it is possible that I still won't get in anywhere and I will have to re-apply next year. I'm pretty sure any acceptance I receive will come way of other people rejecting schools so they end up inviting people off their C list. I am happy with my current job (although it isn't the field I want) so I can wait but I really don't want to wait--even if it means I am the last one picked.

Anyway, that is great news!

jaya88 don't lose hope. Some schools place a greater importance on grades and scores and some put it on experience. It's still early.

Are you all seeing the school decisions posted on SOPHAS? Mine says "School will contact applicant with decision", even for the schools that accepted me a few weeks ago.

for mine, most of my schools say the "school will contact applicant with decision" except for UT health sciences.

(so i guess it depends on school)
for UT though, my acceptance showed up on sophas 1 day before I got the actual email. so I guess sophas will show some decisions faster.

OK, good to know! I guess I'll stop feeling crazy for checking my SOPHAS page "just in case", since it might legitimately happen.

Congrats to all the Harvard acceptances!!! Does this mean a NO for those that have not heard from their various MPH concentrations at Harvard?

I'm not sure, but I'm officially freaking out since someone just posted an acceptance from the exact same program I applied to. Since Harvard has likely had all of their applications in for close to two months now, I don't know why a single department and degree program would send out rolling admits. But I don't know what their process is. I'm guessing those who are accepted next month will be those from the wait list. In any case, I'm trying to prep myself for a rejection so I won't be disappointed...

Undergrad GPA: 3.53
Verbal: 480; Quant: 720; AW: 4.0
Concentration: Health promotion, community health
Acceptances: OSU, UCLA
Rejections: None
Waiting on: UW, SDSU, Berkeley and UofAZ

Hi Annalise, I applied to Health and Social Behavior and I have seen someone already accepted to the program and I have not gotten any email from them. Someone wrote on this forum earlier and said that he visited Harvard and the rumor flying around the school is that they will be rolling out admission decisions every Friday....the trend so far has been so. This means we will be expecting another batch this Friday.....Well I am freaking out myself, lets hope its either an acceptance or at worse a waitlist. So far we have not seen any rejection from Harvard on this thread and that is so so freaking out for those who have not heard. We will keep our fingers crossed.
