Brown, Drexel, and New York Medical College all have rolling admits through May I believe.

Good luck!

Hi again May3545-

Wow - we really have a lot of similarities. I've lived in the east bay my entire life and went to berkeley as an undergrad. I live a stone's throw away from campus- 2 blocks from University Hall. But yes, the call for something different is major for me but same thoughts for me about the cost of going out of state. Also wondering about the job prospects and advantages of staying here vs another state since I plan to eventually come back to the bay area anyway. Now, I'd really like to know what you eventually decide-🙂!

We have awesome choices and an exciting future ahead of us. All of us! Someone told me that we don't regret the things we do in life, but the things we DON'T do. I think I'm leaning towards the east coast.

Columbia's Institutional and Supplemental Application are now available! I got an email with a link to a site, as well as a login. 🙂

.
I also got the Columbia aid application - I appreciate that they aren't making us repeat all the information that is on the FAFSA.
.
.Figured an update might be helpful to others out there so:.
.Accepted: University of Michigan (HPM w/ ½ tuition and HBHE), Columbia (Population and family health with 10k merit), Emory (Global Health), Yale (SBS with Global health concentration, UNC (HBHE)..
.Waitlisted: UW global health (they said I’m high on the list, but no guarantees!).
.Waiting: Harvard, BU, Berkeley, NYU (global health), Hunter College..
Good luck to everyone!

I just checked my emails for today. Double whammy: rejected from both Yale and Berkeley. Bummer!

Hoping for better news later on =)

Did you hear by email or snail mail for BU?

snail mail. It actually came in 2 envelopes, 1 big, 1 small. My roommates were joking that they sent me a rejection letter and an acceptance.

I didn't get that email. I thought they were going to send it to all applicants....unless I've been rejected 😕

@ all
Got My first rejection-HSPH....🙁...kinda expected it....

I received the Columbia financial aid application email today as well and it WAS short! How do we apply for the scholarships/fellowships/grants available here: http://www.mailman.columbia.edu/pro...nding-options/scholarships-fellowships-grants ?

I just started browsing the list on that link you posted. Some of them have specific instructions on how to apply. Some of them say you were supposed to state your interest in the Scholarship Addendum portion of your application (I didn't realize that!) I'm not sure about how to apply for the rest of them though...

Hey Swaffles. When did you apply to Yale? Slash when was it considered "complete?"

I just got my first rejection today, from Berkeley, in Health & Social Behavior. Accepted to Columbia Sociomedical sciences- Social science research in public health track w/merit award on Feb. 9th, and UNC HBHE on Feb. 12th. Still haven't heard from them about funding- has anyone else?

I also had the March 15th decision deadline on my Columbia offer letter, and asked if it could be extended so I could attend the admitted students day before I have to decide, and they pushed it back to April 1st.

The only school I still haven't heard from is Tulane- anyone else in the same boat?

You are def not the 1st person who was asked to reply by March 15th! Every time I see this I freak out a little bit and double check my letter, and mine clearly says April 15th! I don't get it...is it different by tracks? I'm in SMS Health Promotion. This is so weird!

From what I understand, you are automatically considered for scholarships when they look over your aid application. This is what I was told when I was inquiring about scholarships last fall. And yes, my supplemental application was also short.

They might only be sending it to people who have already been accepted. My guess is that when you get your acceptance, you will probably get contacted by financial aid. That is only my guess, though.

My guess is that it has to do with the merit award. When I wrote to ask for an extension so I can visit before I have to decide, the admissions officer said that they set the deadline early so that funds can be given to someone else if I decline. Do you mind my asking if you got a merit award or not?

I didn't...but I also didn't fill out the scholarship addendum like I should've. I was able to submit the addendum anyway, but fairly late...at this point I've kind of given up any hope for financial aid from Columbia. 🙁

I haven't, but would love to hear from other Berkeley admits if they have any information!

Berkeley's SPH Visit Day is Monday March 7. I got the email about visit day about a week after I was accepted.

I feel like I haven't heard of many people seriously considering Berkeley on this forum...are you out there?! I was admitted to epi/biostats and I'm really leaning towards accepting.

But by the way, has anyone heard from UW Public Health Genetics yet?

I got accepted yesterday and I'm thrilled! But having lived in CA all my life, I'm more interested in attending a school in the east coast to gain a new experience-- it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. Decisions, decisions!

It was incredibly short. I filled in 5 or 6 slots, and then thought, ".... that was it? That's what I've been frantically waiting for??" before I clicked Submit. But it's DONE! Now more waiting.

Hey, bd2010! I applied for Yale January 20th and I got the 'application complete' email on February 9th. I think that's a pretty fast response time, although it felt like i was waiting FOREVER.

I bugged Yale Admissions this morning to ask 'WHERE DID I GO WRONG, OH GOD' and I was told that they received almost 1100 applications for 120 seats - I'm assuming that would be less than a 22% acceptance rate if they accepted double their seat count.

It actually makes me feel a lot better, believe it or not!

Hey don't worry about it. Yale in particular seems like they admit based on "fit" and "faculty matches" over anything else. Since it's a smaller school I would guess it is harder for everyones specific interests to line up with those of a faculty members. Besides, You have ivy-licious Columbia already in your pocket and another school too if I remember correctly 🙂

Right now I'm mentally preparing myself for the Harvard hysteria that tomorrow will bring (if the decisions every Friday rumour is indeed true) !

No! I called them a week ago and they said they will start sending out decisions at the beginning of March. I'm dying over here, UW!

How did you hear about your Yale decision? I'm still waiting to hear back... they sent an email a couple weeks back saying that it was under review...

Hi kyle86, they send a "deny letter" to me. Everything on the email's subject!

Now that I know Yale is sending out emails today, I can't stop checking my iPhone at work. I think I am going to have to hide it from myself 🙂

Swaffles, thanks for sharing the information from them. I'm sorry you didn't get it but you have been accepted to a lot of great schools!

Is that 120 seats for the program you applied to or 120 seats in general? Either way, it really is an incredibly small program and I would not feel bad at all! Congratulations on all your other acceptances!!!

It just makes me more anxious knowing that everyone who was already accepted to Columbia has already received financial aid/supplemental forms....Ahhhh the wait is killing me.

I'm with you! What program did you apply to? Have you heard from Columbia when they will be sending out more decisions?

My first choice was Health Policy & Management. Second was Epidemiology.

From what I've gathered, Columbia releases decisions from Wed - Fri through email and will continue doing so until sometime in March. I submitted at the mid-December and my application was under review beginning December 29. I expected to hear sooner from them, but now I'm flat out worrying that I got rejected.

I'm dying on waiting for Columbia's right now too! I'm not sure if anyone else who hasn't heard back from Columbia has this issue, but I got the financial aid email this morning, but I still haven't heard back on my acceptance/rejection! So not only do I have to wait, but I'm now super confused! 🙂

Has anyone heard from davis? Good, or bad?

When you say your app was under review since December 29th do you mean that's when it said it was complete? Mine has said complete since December 3rd and I haven't heard either and haven't gotten the financial aid app which isn't online yet. 😕

Yes, that is correct. My application was submitted on December 15, but I believe I was waiting for a transcript to be entered into Columbia's records. According to the completion status online, it does read December 29 and I confirmed with an individual from Columbia that my application was indeed completed and had been submitted for review.

I'm surprised that you haven't heard from Columbia yet. Other members here had submitted around the same time you had (early December) and received decisions a couple weeks ago. I anticipate my decision to take a little longer because I submitted a few weeks after them and during a busy time for admission offices. Regardless, I am still worried..lol

For all the Columbia folk:

I've been waiting on pins and needles for a decision myself. A call to the admissions office revealed that they won't be releasing anymore batches until the first week of March. I'm hoping that they mean next week.

Also, I *did* get info about financial aid though I haven't gotten a decision. Check Spam or perhaps give the financial aid people a call?

Hello! I have been following this thread for a few weeks now as I anxiously await my own decisions. Here is my info for those who want to know:

Undergrad: 3.71
Postgrad: 3.86
GRE: 570V, 660Q, 4.5A
I have six years work experience in maternal and child health
Lots of volunteer work including 7 months in Sub Saharan Africa Peds HIV clinic
2 years in AmeriCorps

Applied: UW Global Health (local for me), UNC MCH, UCB MCH
Admissions-UNC
Waitlisted-UW (with favorable position on the list, whatever that means😕)
Waiting: UCB

My questions for those who want to share:
Assuming I get a choice between UW and UNC, is one better the other? I want to work internationally in maternal and child health when finished and UW is a stronger international program, but lacks the strong MCH background. UNC has the strong MCH part, but it would be harder to get the international experience. Tuition expenses also factor into this as UW would be in state tuition and UNC would be out of state.

2nd question: For those who have heard from UW, has anybody received acceptance into the global health program? Waitlist? Rejections?

Thanks,
M
