Accepted! Now what?

So I see a bunch of people are getting accepted already (myself included), and I wanted to get an idea of what people are planning on doing between accepted time and matriculation.

Perhaps we can inspire each other to do something cool before hand.


I know I myself am trying to gain a better understanding of Economics by looking at a lot of online lectures and reading those book things.

I'd also like to take a trip to New Zealand and do their highest bungee jump.

What about you guys?

I'm taking an online CS course, learning Spanish, and trying to figure out the logistics of becoming employed/ Columbia/cross-country bike ride.

If it was me I would just relax for the next 8 months or so before med school.

I think learning a new language would be a great use of time though

I am already way ahead of the game! I am pulling off a noworkhistory moment now! I read FA from 2007-2013, all BRS, and RR. I never have felt so pumped! And I didn't even apply yet!.... .....

Well, this is a premedical forum... but still. Those who've never worked are likely at a huge disadvantage as they lack valuable life skills associated with having to hold a job.

Actually, I've been employed on and off since I was 16 and I was working up until last month. "Becoming employed" =/= "Becoming employed for the first time..."

Very much this. I think the trouble with senior year is that I'm not as crunched for time as I have been in the past. Ergo, although I have a list of things do get done, I don't HAVE to get them done right now. It would be better to just do them...but why do that when I can check SDN for the millionth time? 🙄

Perusing SDN, trying to figure out which school I want to go with, trying to keep up with classes cause I still need to graduate, chasing girls/ general silly things I normally do. I'm hoping to completely let go and relax this winter break.

It's cliche to say, but be sure to enjoy the free time while you have it.

Don't start studying, that's all you will be doing the next two years and any studying you do over the summer won't really help once school starts.

Just relax, you guys earned a break after four years of college and all the stresses of med school admissions. Play those video games you never had a chance to play before, this will be your last chance for quite a while 😀

finish up two research projects (gunning for 2 pubs, but 1 pub and a poster will do),
go to a NFL game for my 3 fav teams (only going to make it to 2 of them though -- very sad),
go to an NBA game,
travel to 2-3 concerts for new bands I fell in love with on youtube,
snowboard the hell out of this upcoming season,
get my finances in line (sell some property that I own) to pay for ms1/ms2,
learn more about legislation/health policy for state-level involvement in med school,
maybe lose ~10 pounds

Life skills...hmmm, yes, sitting on top of a chair wearing sunscreen and glasses and yelling at people in the pool..valuable life skills. May it lead me well in life.

Sounds awesome, where are you thinking. I want to do some snowboarding myself but I doubt it will be anything to write home about.

I'd LOVE to venture to the west coast (colorado et al.) for some lonnnng runs, but that isn't going to be a reality this year. I'll be hopping resort-to-resort on the east coast...Vermont, Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, etc.
