Hey Guys! I interviewed at BU last week, which is my FIRST choice! I would like to know what GPAs and DAT scores did people have to get accepted! Any information would be great. I am really anxious in hearing from BU. Until then, thanks for the information and all the help!

Almost the same stats as above. I just turned them down after making my first deposit, so my spot will be opening up soon. Good luck!

My stats are:

GPA: 3.3 / 3.5
DAT: AA24/ OA23 / PA22
My acceptance letter came in exactly a week

I have a question for ShawnOne.. How much deposite did you have to put down? Is it 3000 nonrefundable?😕

I was accepted to BU recently. I have 19's on every section of the DAT and a 3.4/3.4. My scores aren't especially high, but consistent. I found out about 10 days after my interview. I am going to Nova, not BU so that opens a slot (even though they send out more acceptances than slots).

Good luck.

Jessica

Hey Guys! I really apprecaite the information. Helps me gain an idea where I stand for admission🙄 Any more information regarding the BU admission process would be great! Do they CALL you when you are accepted or just send you a letter? Is the letter pretty thick or thin? Thanks guys!!!

I got an update on Infosource, but I first found out with a letter in the mail that my mom read to me. I haven't seen it because I moved to chicago. Infosource says "Offer made". Good luck.
Jessica

Letter... and Very THIN...!!! and quick.. :wow: so fast I tought it was a rejection letter.....

Wow you are guys are quick when it comes to replying back😀 Does anyone know how often the admissions committe meet? I would love to guage when I get to hear back from them🙁 Thanks again and keep the info. coming🙂

Because it is getting close to the end of the cycle, I believe that most dental schools will contact accepted applicants by phone to speed up the process, and they will also mail you an acceptance letter sometime afterward.

Unfortunately, you cannot distinguish the rejection letter from the acceptance letter since both only consist of a letter indicating the result of adcom's decision. It will be a stressful time when you see a letter from the dental school because you will not know if it will be good or bad until you open it.

Hopefully for you it will be an acceptance letter!

Very true and excellent point! When do they slow down interviews...or I should ask when do they stop interviewing? Till then class is full? How long do they give you guys to respond back with the $3,000😕 Thanks again and keep the info. coming!

I think Dr. Shaw told me that their AdCom meets every week or two weeks. BU doesn't call. Just relax and have some fun in the meantime.

Jessica

Thanks Jessica! I'm trying but very anxious😉

Most dental schools conclude their interview process late March - mid April. As you get accepted later on into the cycle, the less time you have to make your decision/deposit (again, to speed up the process - and to give time for other candidates a chance). I think right now if you get accepted you have 2 weeks to get your deposit in.

From ADEA:

The association further recommends that applicants accepted on or after December 1 be given at least 45 days to reply to the offer; for applicants who have been accepted on or after January 1, the minimum response period should be 30 days; for applicants accepted on or after February 1, the minimum response period may be reduced to 15 days. The association believes that dental schools are justified in asking for an immediate response from applicants accepted after July 15 or two weeks before the beginning of the academic year, whichever comes first.

I interviewed at BU on a Tuesday (1/20). I received my acceptance letter on Saturday (1/31). My infosource was updated on 1/29 (letters take a while to get to Missouri). That is the most specific information that I can offer you.

Hey Mini
My interview was on 1/16, I got my acceptance about a week and half later. My deposit was 3000 non-refundable, but it does go toward tuition. I had a month to send it in, but I called and they do up to 15 day extensions.

I don't think I've seen anyone as anxious as you Mini, I'm sure you'll get in, and then you'll feel silly. I was anxious too, but once you get in, you wonder why.
Hope you hear good news.

I know I'm prety anxious🙁 I just want to get in and enjoy the rest of my senior year with peace of mind😎 Thank's for the feedback guys!!! Anymore post away!

My interview was on Jan 25th (regional). Letter was sent on Feb 2nd. But I did not receive it until Feb 16th b/c mail is so freaking slow to Canada haha but I will be turning them down so my spot will open up soon.

another canadian here!....had my interview jan 24 and my infosource showed acceptance on Jan 30....

JCJC and Nilez
where you guys going next year?
any Canadians coming to Florida?

ok..third try... this thing isn't letting me post..grrrrrrr

JACK

i got a deposit extension for BU till March 15... am hoping for Buffalo...still CONTINUING REVIEW>>>Grrrrrrrrrr

also applied to Canadian schools (UWO/U of T).... and they are my first choices for obvious reasons...($$).....

jack604: Right now, I havent decided where I'm going yet, trying to choose between UBC or Upenn

UBC is University of British Columbia?

I have no idea about Canadian sch, but UPenn is an excellent sch.

Hey Niles...whats with all the grrrs? Are u some sort of animal hybrid?

Anyways, Buffalo is gonna re-review at the end of the month...Im in the same boat...if we are both continuing review after this review, we are gonna have to wait until the end of March! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

JCJC....you got a tough decision....Both Upenn and UBC are pretty expensive schools! However, Ive heard Vancouver is absolutely amazing, and UBC's campus is beautiful! I would goto Vancity! Wouldnt have to worry about loans and the exchange rate either!

I was accepted at BU 10 days after my interview, and here are my stats:
GPA: 3.27
science GPA: 3.05
DAT: 23 academic, 24 science total, 16 PAT

good luck, hope you hear from them soon 🙂

I have a question about Infosource. I interviewed with BU earlier this month and just checked Infosource. It says "Offer Made". What does that exactly mean? Does that mean acceptance or that some kind of offer is made such as being put on alternate list? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Congrats! VanCityGurl,

"offer made" meant accepted for me, so I'm guessing the same for you

Do they really send out more acceptances than the number of available slots?
