If you are going to ACEP, you know that the host hotel is Mandalay Bay / THEHotel. Through ACEP, the rooms are something like 259 a night.

Currently, if you go to the hotels website http://www.mandalaybay.com/ they are running a '72 hour special' through June 18 with VERY discounted rooms! Just click the banner on their main page.

My entire class is going, we all got 'Great Room Suites' for CHEAPER than what ACEP was charging for the basic standard room!

I dont know how useful this will be on this board, but figured some folks might be going to ACEP, and espicially if you are paying for it yourself, its a way to save some money.

It works with THEHotel as well. We are all staying Sept 27-Oct 2, ACEPs rate for a basic room was about 1300. The basic room booked this way is about 950. We got the Great Room suite for 1150. THEHotel rooms are about 1100 for the above dates; I was told the rooms are about the same as the Great Room Suite we booked, but the walk is considerable to the conference area and the pools.

We are going as our class trip; we not only saved out University money, but are also staying in a kickin room!

Is there going to be a SDN party?

EDIT: We were just checking prices again today for no reason and was shocked to find the rooms were even CHEAPER! We called and each got our stay for about 100 cheaper for the 5 nights. If you booked the 72 hour special, just check on the website, if its now listed cheaper, call the hotel with your confirmation number. They changed the rate without any hassles!

Thanks so much! Just booked myself a room at a MUCH better price than I expected! :D

...

Not an issue for you guys. Both hotels share a common casino floor and parking structure. The difference is just going to be in how much casino floor you're crossing (and if it's more than 200 yards, I'd be shocked).

Mix at THE Hotel would be a great place for a SDN meet up. Free entry before 10pm and fantastic views.

Would I be out of place attending this event as someone just starting 3rd year, or do other junior med students attend? I'll be writing Step 1 right around the time of ACEP, so it might give me a good excuse to head over to Vegas and attend a few days + celebrate being done.
