So I searched this whole forum but could not find the answer:

In order for the sperm to implant itself into the egg, what reaction takes place for it to stay or go to the perivitaline layer, Is it acrosome reaction or capacitation? I think its capacitation but can someone please clarify?

Secondly, if the sperm is unable to swim or is immotile, what sort of therapy or fertilization can be used to implant it to have a child?
thanks

First question: I believe that capacitation is the process the sperm undergoes in the female repro tract to prepare itself for 'attack'. It becomes hyperactivated/very motile. Whereas the acrosome reaction is the physiological changes/enzymes that occur to the sperm to get it through the zona pellucida.

Is this correct?

For your second question: http://womens-health.health-cares.net/intracytoplasmic-sperm-injection.php this link has info about a process that seems like the answer to your question

It's the acrosome reaction. Capacitation refers to the increased motility of the sperm when it enters the female reproductive system. The second question sounds like in-vitro fertilization.

ya i have trouble in this also. whats the difference b/t capacitation and acrosome reaction.

so lemme get this straight: capacitation is a maturation process and acrosome reaction occurs when the sperm meets the egg?

Yea I see capacitation as the sperm giving itself that pep talk and the acrosome reaction is going for it 🙂
