when the 1st molars of both arches are extracted, where do we get the resorption most?
palatal of max./palatal of mand./ hight of max./ or the same?

hi there ..i am dentist from India ...appearing for ADC part i in march 09.....i have some info regarding the ques of residual ridge resorption....
ans: during the first year after tooth extraction the reduction in midsagittal plane is about 2 to 3 mm for maxilla and 4 to 5 mm in mandible.
The annual rate of reduction in height is about .1 to .2 mm in mandible and is generally 4 times less in edentulous maxilla. so according to me lingual mandible should resorb more then palatal maxilla.

About the extraction of deciduous upper molar:

The movement should be towards palatal not to harm the permanent successor.

The BEST treatment for alveolar abscess:
A. Endontic treatment or extraction
B. Incision and drainage alone
C. Extraction
D. Endodontic

you know is it A or B and why?

hi silver....how u doing.....ya in deciduous max molar...we usually give a palatal movement while extracting in because it is a more stronger root and also to some extent because buccal bone is more liable to fracture in children.

when r u appearing for part I...and from where?

in my view the treatment for acute and chronic alveolar abscess is different.

in case of an acute abscess....its better to establish drainage through the root canal followed by conventional endodontic therapy after the symptoms subside.
while in chronic, endodontic therapy is the treatment of choice.
in my view this ques is not rightly put.....but if i need to answer this i will say its endodontic therapy(D)

Why not extraction? If the prognosis is poor dentoalveolar abscess is not a contraindication for extraction. (Dental Decks 2008)

This year the SAQs' format was changed. We had to answer 3 compulsory questions. We had to write the answer of each in a given booklet which had 3 papers to write in. Then we had to seal in in a pocket( with no name , just you ADC reference code which you'll be given after your assessment).
