Did I miss the Sept 11 thread? If not, I can't believe no one has started...

From AAMC:

"The AAMC is providing an additional test date for the MCAT in September. There will be approximately 2400 seats available on Sept. 11. This date was already planned as a back-up date in case inclement weather resulted in the cancellation of a regularly scheduled test date. These additional seats are distributed in locations across the country and are in every state except for Alaska, Hawaii, Rhode Island, West Virginia, and Wyoming,
Registration for these seats will open on Monday, August 13. [NOW!]
We will monitor demand very closely and are working with Prometric to open up even more reservations for MCAT examinees during September. We will update this Web page as soon as more information becomes available."

Right now, 9:45AM EST lots of folks are saying their locations are already full. It's possible I guess, but I'm having a hard time believing that -- as I haven't gotten the impression this Sept 11 is widely known about, even on SDN. Rather, I suspect some of these test centers, when they get hammered with seat requests, spit out a 'false negative' that there are no seats available. I say this because I've seen during other heavy traffic times it will say "No seats" yet, the next day or so later, there seem to be some available (as they remain available for a week or longer). Again, pure speculation on my part....as I find it hard to believe they've filled up THAT fast.

So, this thread would probably be a good place to post your registration experience(s).....

Awesome, I was able to switch to my testing center today.

I was able to change my testing center from 4 hours away to only 30 minutes away 🙂 And I canceled my hotel reservation too for the 4 hour away test center. Yay, that's $50 dollars saved for me ($100 hotel room - $50 Mcat changing fee)

I did the same...I went from 2 and a half hours away to 20 minutes away. The only thing that bothers me, is I think we should get the $50 dollars reinbursed since it was a glitch in their system in the first place...

33% of schools in NY/NJ/CT will only accept Sept 8th scores saying they will not accept scores from Sept 11? Why not? It's just 3 days later?
The problem is I've already switched over to Sept 11 but now can't find a Sept 8th seat w/in 350 miles...!?! Not even the original 9-8 seat I had B4 in Pittsburgh (6 hours away)

It seems that the NY/NJ/CT schools with 10/15 AMCAS deadlines are the majority of schools rejecting the 9-11 MCAT. But why? AAMC says they will get the scores in less than 30 days, right? Why the resistance? SUNY Downstate is the most puzzling as their AMCAS deadline is 12/15 - so why have they jumped on the 9-11 MCAT ban?!? Nothing available w/in 350 miles for 9-8 test. Good grief

I'm pretty sure the schools will change, b/c are they going to look at your application and "ignore" the sept 11th score?? I wish we had a list of schools which are not accepting Sept. 11th MCATs....

AAMC says they only have a list of schools against Jan MCAT. AAMC says there's no apparent reason for these schools to reject the 9-11 MCAT, assuming the score gets reported by their AMCAS deadline, which it should.
Instead of unilaterally saying "NO 9-11 MCAT" I'd appreciate it if these schools were more reasonable & say something like 'If the score isn't here by our deadline, then we can't consider your application.'

I just switched...saved driving 350 miles to Arizona, plus hotel. Gas in Cali is running at about $3.25 a gallon right now, so I probably just saved myself $150 by switching...hopefully schools that I have already sent secondaries to will take it.
