So, what if your school keep track of you guys? Is not like they can UNgraduate you. Once you're a DO, they can't undo that. Your school is really pushing it there, it will be a challenge to graduate all of your class if they're set on that policy. I'm sorry you guys are going through this
They can prevent us from graduating, COCA’s letter said that it’s up to the school’s discretion. I think they might just be saying that so they can get as many students done as possible though. Also, someone could potentially fail without any opportunity to retake it.. Definitely another headache this cycle

So Chicago still has mandatory 14 day quarantine in effect... is the NBOME just expecting us to break it and it not be on them? How are they so incompetent? It really is mind blowing that a Physician led organization who champions "they are protecting the public" is forcing medical students to travel and see fake patients during a pandemic.
Not to mention also flagrantly violating the PA DOH quarantine recommendations for people coming from many states in which DO schools are located

From kcu right now:

  • · It has been confirmed that exams will be resuming as scheduled November 2, 2020. This is great news!

  • · NBOME have indicated that the quarantine policies in Chicago are not being enforced, especially for brief stays. The site is taking all recommended and necessary safety precautions as they pertain to the virus.

  • · At present, it is anticipated that Level 2-PE testing availability at a temporary contingency satellite site would begin in March of 2021 and run through July 2021, adding opportunities to the NBOME’s two National Centers for Clinical Skills Testing in Chicago and Philadelphia for those ready to test. Further details and possibly the opening of test center appointment dates at a temporary satellite testing site as early as December 15, 2020.

LMAO

“not being enforced” I.e the NBOME says to just go anyway because you probably won’t get caught

This is just embarrassing at this point. An organization involved in licensing physicians basically saying just ignore quarantine guidelines in the middle of a pandemic and come take our fake test with fake patients because somehow a year of rotations with real patients under real physician supervision just ain’t going to cut it? Do they realize how ****ing stupid they look right now?

I love how they don’t make an official announcement.....

I think I just had a stroke reading this...

How. In. The. Hell. Are they getting away with this?

The AOA has their special house of delegates meeting tomorrow. I'm 90% they won't do anything, but one can hope.

The best part is we signed a contract agreeing to follow public health guidelines at the beginning of the semester.

Scheduled for November 8th and received confirmation call.

Looks like they are going w/ full intent of November start date.

Will let you guys know how it goes haha

I'm scheduled for earlier in November and have received no communication...

Although I'm probably going to cancel. Not worth the risk of getting COVID or of failing. I just wish that they had some dates available in March-June 2021.

I'm hoping the testing quirks get worked out the week before me.

Idk who is taking it Nov 2nd - Nov 6th but i'm hoping they are more lenient w/ timing or grading.

After watching the video about new precautions taken for this test I can already predict somebody is going to get reduced time to interview or write the note for a couple cases.

I am very confused rn. So is it starting on november 2nd or not? I am not doubting what everyone else is saying but the least we can expect is an official announcement

As of right now, it is ON. However, that can always change whenever between now and November 2nd. I could be wrong, but I don't think that there is going to be a big announcement about things "opening back up." The default at the moment is that testing is to resume in November 2020. I think that an announcement will only occur if things get delayed again.

I’m scheduled for 11/6 and I haven’t received a confirmation call. I also don’t want to take it then but right now it’s keep my date or August 2021.

Seems like you and I are in the same boat. I'm hoping that they will open up more testing slots in the Spring for the class of 2021. Or spots will naturally open up once they get the Western states testing center up and running...

You know these idiots are going to screw it up if they open a new site. They won't block 2022 from registering which will result in 3 sites being packed till 21-22 winter.
2022 is already in the mix. I begged NBOME if nothing else to block anyone that’s not 2021 but they have claimed they don’t have a way to do that.

A friend called to try and change her date to one before July and was told that she couldn't because 2022 wasn't allowed to test before then. Another friend had the same experience. Not sure if they're blocking people from registering for earlier dates online, though, or only if you call to try and change your date; there was nothing open earlier anyways when I scheduled.

Honestly taking it before graduation can only hurt you. If you fail then you WILL be kept from graduating, and your match will be voided. You fail as an intern then you get to try again and still be a resident.
I totally agree with this. I am of the opinion that PDs will match us without a PE pass because there are simply too many people without it by mid February / most PDs probably assume it is canceled along with the CS #boycottthepe

Don't worry about PE guys because some residency programs are now inventing a new test for you to take before applying. CA$PER for the win LOL SMH!!! I can only hope this does not become the norm for the 2022 match cycle.

At this point I am willing to take Step 2 CS out of spite.

Yeah i'm definitely not taking it unless i'm forced, and i'm okay with some programs not liking that. I think majority will just think CS and PE are taking the same route.

Most importantly, i already spent the $1200 refund i got. There's no going back sorry. This is the way.

I'll miss having that $1200 credit on my CC... didn't have to pay a bill for almost two months!

This is what the committee is recommending for H213 - exactly what we thought. If anyone has the time today to sit through the AOA HOD meeting i would do it. I think you can still sign up. Annual Business Meeting | American Osteopathic Association

Holi$tic Review.

I think well get Secondaries ("Why this program?" Why Internal Medicine") before that.

I'm right there too. I just don't want to have to deal with it during intern year. This is a damn fiasco
One residency I rotated at, there was a huge hooplah for an intern getting two days to take level 3.

I can only imagine the hoops they would have to jump to take level 2 PE.

These people are hellbent on continuing PE. For good reason because if we set the precedent theres no going back.

If they truly believed in the validity of this test then they would be ok with suspending it for a class.

Is this a school specific thing? I thought a passing PE was removed from the requirements to graduate. I know my school has said they will graduate us without a passing PE.

Some schools still require you to take PE in order to graduate. Don't ask me a why. May be a Gimpel to school venmo transaction is at play.

They can graduate without a passing PE, but do you really think your school will graduate you with failed PE?

Well then, what happens to the people that failed and are now applying for residency and are not scheduled for their PE till after graduation?

I don’t know, but there are multiple schools still saying you need to have a score to graduate. Anyone assuming they will still be allowed to graduate after failing PE right before graduation is making a very dangerous assumption.

This is a scary thought

Making my ERAS program list.

For those who plan to skip PE and go straight to step 3, should we avoid applying to states like PA, FL where PE is required?

Stupid question but i'm not sure how this works. Can i do my residency in PA, but skip getting the PA license and just get the NY license instead? Or do residency programs expect you get licensed in the state it's in?
