Technically they have their own OMM exam, so they will probably just require that if the NBOME were to waive PE
I consider them an outlier by far. Even the other states that require comlex and not a usmle substitute clause are not like PA. There are old threads of attendings that went back and had to take a PA OMM exam because they wanted to move there. Imagine that ****.
I remember a story from a very famous teacher that had to do this. Basically begged his tester to pass him (because he was so bad at OMM) and it worked out.

The NBOME must follow the NBME, lagging just behind it, to prevent their internal and external opponents from pointing out the discrepancy and noting that the requirements of the profession are “different”. They must maintain the status quo so they can continue to promote the illusion of “Look! We are the exact same!” while at the same time insisting they are different on some level. Anyone remotely sane knows that there are no meaningful differences anymore, and the future of the profession exists as complete merger with our MD counterparts. All that will survive is some vague references to OMM, perhaps an optional course or something, which would also quickly cease to exist.

Yeah my pediatrics preceptor had to jump through those hoops. She told me all about it and the politics surrounding it. Sounds like a complete **** show.
I very much apologize for not reading previous pages of this thread. I just checked PE availability dates and only December 2021 is earliest available as of now. Those of you in class of 2022 (I know you are scheduling PE right now or already have or will be in near future) - are you scheduling it this year or for next year? Did your school set specific deadline for PE?

Also, I want to note that I love how every email I get from my school or NBOME regarding anything comlex related always has an itenerary point for "addressing misinformation" hahaha. Labeling facts misinformation is getting tedious. How about just doing the right thing and not pretending it's not a scam with terrible motives?

if the NBOME does not cancel the PE.. then for those of us who took USMLE as well....we would literally be taking double the exams the MDs have. Unreal

The only time the NBOME hasn't just followed it's big brother NBME in decision making has been related to the PE exam. I fully expect them to double down on the stupidity. I have no faith in their integrity or critical thinking skills.

Yea I think it’s over now for the nbome, I mean PD’s won’t even care if you didn’t take it(since no MD’s will have CS) it only comes down to if your school requires it for graduation, once schools stop caring about this test like they did last year it’s over lol and they will stop caring since it will be literally impossible to schedule both class of 2021 and 2022 in such a short time period..
It's now a question of what's more important to the NBOME: 1) following NBMEs lead, or 2) making up the money they already dumped into their employee benefits and 3rd site development. Up until this point, they had the precedent that NBME was at least planning on bringing it back to fall on despite their flawed logic and blatant greed. No it's gone.

The NBOME doesn't know what the sunk cost fallacy is.
The rationale for keeping it will be that we have OMM and MDs don't, and we need an in-person exam to assess OMM.

So does that mean I don’t have to frantically try to schedule step 3 this summer to avoid CS? Since it’s discontinued for good
I’m starting to wonder now the legality/viability of just taking step 3 now that CS is gone? Can we just go ahead and take step 3 now if we have taken step 1 and step 2ck. Provided we are not in one of the 7 Comlex requiring states? Because if so, why in the actual **** would we deal with PE?
Read the state licensing board rules. It is possible.
So for those of you who have requested refunds are you currently just waiting to see if it goes away before you have to take level 3? Unfortunately, I plan on being in one of the states where taking the USMLE series won't work for getting a license so I plan to stick it out with the NBOME. Currently, I am registered to take PE in April but would really like my money back. My only fear is the mess this would cause of having to take it during residency and the lack of available testing dates? Thoughts?
My required month long OMM rotation on "real" somatic dysfunction couldn't evaluate for that apparently. My 2 years of practicals and serious OMM curriculum couldn't either.
The only thing that can evaluate OMM is doing it on like 3 healthy people with fake complaints in their lab AFTER giving them a magic $1500.
They absolutely cannot justify this exam.
The clinical skills and English are evaluated every single day for 4 years and the OMM is evaluated exponentially more during those 4 years but somehow the only thing that evaluates this stuff is a single, one-off fake patient clinic day LOL.

Is there a benefit to even keeping our PE dates now? If PDs won't be judging MD students by whether or not they have CS done, then it seems that risking taking the PE can only hurt us.
I was looking through replies to Dr. Carmody on twitter. There are several people who posted it there. I think it's probably a leak from an affiliate or something. Reading it makes me feel like I'm gurgling sewage, so it seems legit.
Dr. Gimpel has to put food on the table for his family and pay his mortgages. Therefore, y'all DOs need to suck it up and pay the bill. It is the DO only way.
