Advice for PGY-1 - Philly area

Has anyone on here done a residency in philadelphia, and could speak to how competitive they are to apply to/obtain?

Yes...pretty competitive, as everyone and their mother wants to live in Philly. I think Temple might actually be the most competitive one, even more so than HUP...seems like everyone in my class was trying to get into that program. There are less competitive programs though (Presby, Pennsy, Hahnemann), but I can't say that those are "easy" to get into either. Philly VA is moderately competitive, though not as bad as some of the other big VAs in the area. Have you done a rotation in any Philly hospitals? If so, then apply to those.
