Hello,

I have a question regarding the way PharmCAS calculates your GPA when you re-take a course. In my four years of college, I struggled with major health issues and because I wanted to finish with my bachelor's as if nothing was holding me back I kept going with my course work. As a result, I didn't receive the best grades in my core science courses. Two years later with my health regained, I went back to school to re-take my core science courses and received A's in all of them. Unfortunately, even after the academic update, PharmCAS did not take into account my new scores because they were repeated and consequently my GPA stayed around the same (it went up a bit because of new electives). What is a good way to let pharmacy schools know that my GPA isn't as calculated on PharmCAS without sounding like an idiot? I have addressed my academic discrepencies in my personal letter but truly believe they don't even look past the GPA and PCAT. Any suggestions for my application for the next cycle? Thanks!

PharmCAS will average your grades for the same course. If you received a "C" in a course which you re-took and earned an "A" - your grade will be averaged to a "B".

Any letter you send to ADCOMs stating your pharmCAS GPA is bogus will likely get your app negative publicity - trust me - this happens more than you know.

If you feel an error has occurred in your GPA calculation - I would politely contact pharmCAS directly and petition them to re-evaluate your GPA. You are not the first to have this issue and a protocol is likely already in place.

Now I'm officially terrified to get my PharmCAS GPA.
