my part 1 score is 86 and part 2 score is 90.i would like to know if i should repeat my part 1, i am really confused so please help me out.

What's your overall application? That's the most important thing.

I think yo shud go ahead and apply to the dental schools. and dependig on the response u get u can decide whether to retake the part 1. But I feel these scores shud help u get into a dental school without any problems.

NYU and BU shouldnt be a problem. not too sure about USC as i dont know much about that school. if u are willing to wait i would say apply and wait and see what happens........

i am applying to all the schools which accept foreign students,i heard BU accepts students with 90 or 90+.so is there a hope or no.

yeah anie i think u should go ahead and apply to BU. they mainly look at ur part 1 scores but since ur part 2 scores are pretty good u might stand a better chance than someone who has the same part 1 score but not a good part 2 score. depends on whether u really want to retake part 1 and are confident that u will do well this time around! i for one dont think i can take part 1 twice! december 2003 is my best and only shot at it!

Hi Anie,

Apply to as many schools as possible ,your scores are pretty good. Look into type of program each school is offering, would rather go for clinical oriented program than ones which stress a on preclinicals

If you plan to do a post graduate program later on, I think you should just go ahead and re-take part 1.

Does someone with a 84 in part 1, 277 TOEFL, 3.6 GPA, top of the class, plenty of work experience, plenty of hospital voluntary experience HAS A CHANCE SOMEWHERE???? (other than NYU, of course) PD: I'm a minority (in case it helps 🙄


If my pocket allows me , I'll be applying to these schools:
UCLA, UCSF, UOP, BU, NOVA, NYU, UPennand Marquette. What do you think? Pleaseeeee, tell me what are my chances of getting anywhere. 😕

I've been reading all the threads and have contacted most schools and all of them seem to agree that only people with 90+ on part 1 can get anywhere. All the schools tell me that most of who get in are in 90+. I've gotten that answer from Nova, BU, Case Western, UOP, etc... How true is this???😕

uop asks for 80+ and ucsf asks for 83+
so give ur best shot
i think if u have plenty of work exp. then u'll get ur way in uop!

Practice well for the didactics
Prepare for part 2 ( so you can do well in the theory exam too ).

BU, UPENN starts clincals after 8 months, whereas UCSF starts clincals after 3 months into the program.

i heard tufts is pretty good as far as actual clinical experience is concerned...BU is more theory-oriented and pre-clinical. but then it has a higher intake of intl students and has lesser requirements. tufts needs part 2 scores too.

i have been to tufts and taken a look around....believe me the facilities and infrastructure are great! but then i havent seen any other dental school here yet!!!
