Thanks for all the advice in advance.

I have applied to my three in state MD schools (SC), as well as some low tier OOS md schools, but an also planning on applying to 5 DO schools. All I need to do is hit the payment button. I really want to stay in state due to location, but I know I can not wait too much longer to submit my DO applications. Say I get accepted to a DO school, and put deposit down, but later get accepted to my in state school... could I back out of the deposit (I know it's nonrefundable) if it is not passed the april lock-in date?

I am not really sure how all of this works. People will many acceptances, do you just pay the deposits to hold them? Most offers have like a month max hold time before they remove you.

Thanks again.

It's been a while since I applied but you can put deposits down at a bunch of schools and it will hold your seat until you tell them you aren't coming (at DO schools there is no deadline to withdraw). So you could put a deposit down somewhere and keep your seat up until the first day of school (although that wouldn't necessarily be the most moral thing). Just so long as you know you can't get your deposit back you're good.
