Advice on Volunteering Application

I'm applying to be a tutor to middle schoolers and was wondering if you all could give me some input on this question.

The application asks if I have any previous tutoring experience, which I do not; would it be a poor decision to say that I previously applied to a service tutoring high school ids in the are but they rejected me because I had no prior experience? The reasoning being that I want to show that this is something I'm interested in, and have been (although I kind of discuss that in a previous question).

I would just simply answer the question, which is no prior tutoring experience. I don't think they want to know whether you previously applied elsewhere.
