I failed the COMLEX Level 1 twice already (last score 389) and am scheduled to take it a third time Sept 5th.

I am currently scoring:
70% on Kaplan COMLEX Qbank
40-50% on Kaplan USMLE Qbank

Should I take the exam in a few days or should I pay the extra money to postpone the exam till the end of the month? I'm so nervous about failing again that I'm afraid I'll freak on test day. I wanted to be scoring higher to feel more confident going into the exam... Or do I just need to suck it up and take it again?

Thanks for your help. 😱

That's about what I was gettin on my Kaplan tests and did fine on the COMLEX. What I did my last week:

Reviewed my weak subjects extensively for 3-4 days (pharm). I completely skipped biochem except skimming through it once in the months I studied and this helped a lot. They only asked a few questions out of 400 and they were the high yield things (you already know this I'm sure). The last 2 days I did only COMLEX questions on qbank and that is the best advice I can give. Do as many of those as you can, and on the format, make sure you do ALL of the matching sections. It shouldn't take more than 2 hours. Took half a day off the day before to get a massage, drink a LARGE glass of wine and got some great sleep before the test.

Hopefully something in that helps. Good luck , don't panic - it only works against you! You got to Step 1, so you can pass it. Good luck :luck:

Not that internet opinion matter much on this topic, but if you already failed twice, don't you think it'd be a good idea to take more than 4 days to prepare for it? If you must take it sept 9th, and the complex is anything like the USMLE, then I personally just spend the next 4 days on First Aid.... So much of USMLE 1 was on there.

Thanks for the optimism OnMyWayThere! I am currently scoring in the high 80's on Kaplan's comlex Qbank. I think I'll suck it up and take the exam on Wednesday! Now I just need to work on controlling my nerves! Any advice on that any one?!? 🙄

I've had a number of people talk about the "themes" they've had on the COMLEX - they had an unusually large proportion of Q's in an area. One said their theme was STD's, one theme was CV drugs...

Has any one else had a particular "theme" to their exam?

From my past experience... I don't remember anything in particular the 1st time I took the level 1 exam (but that was a REALLY long time ago - I took a year off to get MPH and since then I've also gotten married and had children)! The last time I took level 1 (my second attempt) was this past June. I guess I took too much time off.... Anyhow, I noticed that I had a LOT of STD and pneumonia questions....

Any comments would be appreciated!
