Hey guys so lets start with the stats

3.85 overall GPA
3.7 GPA
over 300 hours of volunteer (dental and nondental related)

I've sent in my applications BUT i need to still take my DAT. The problem is that i am averaging about 18 across the board. I totally messed up and didnt give myself enough time. But i have my DAT in a couple weeks and i don't wanna push it back because they it would be too late. so do you think i should not take it and cancel by application OR not?

if it help my goal schools are either Westerm pomona or LLU

thanks in advance

With that GPA you could score an 18 and still have a shot, plus you still have time to keep studying. If I were you I would submit, dedicate myself these next few weeks and just take the test. What have you been using to review?

thanks for taking the time to reply. I've been SO stressed. currently using DAT bootcamp, cliffs bio 3rd edition, and DAT destroyer (for gen chem...but problem is im only a third of the way through of genchem and don't have enough time to use the other parts).

have you taken it yet?

Yes I took it last Monday, can't tell you how good it feels to be done. Those look like good materials to use, Bootcamp especially. If you have the $$$ I would also get Q Vault but if not it's no biggie. Go through both Bootcamp and Destroyer but in terms of getting the basics down Bootcamp is the most critical in my POV. Are you using Chad's videos as well?

congrats on finishing!! that's awesome. how was it compared to Bootcamp or the 2007 version of the DAT?

yeah! ive watched them and think they are great! im honestly most stressed for bio and gen chem though

Hard to say just because I remember getting some crazy scores on the 2007 DAT (Like 29 G-Chem, 25 Bio, 24 O-Chem) but then taking the 2009 DAT and being humbled (22 G-Chem, 21 Bio, 16 O-Chem.....)

I'd say O-Chem was the most similar to Bootcamp, G-Chem didn't have as many calculation problems, and Bio was a little bit more general but some of the questions were worded weirdly.

For G-Chem definitely know your concepts backwards and forwards, and be able to deduce from the question what kind of calculation they want you to do.

For Bio Feralis notes are money, I tribute my bio score on the DAT solely to those notes(Also did all the questions in destroyer bio but think Feralis notes are the critical factor).

I agree with wengerin. Dedicate yourself completely to your studies these next two weeks and do as well as possible. To lose a whole year would not be worth it! You would definitely have some "what ifs" until the next cycle.
Regardless, I know a lot of people in my class that had to apply twice (some of the top 10 in our class applied twice), so worst case scenario you still apply next year but it shows dedication.

Best of luck! Your other stats are great; I am sure you can push through and raise your DAT score in a couple of weeks.

Can't really give you adequate advice until you have a DAT score, which is a huge part of your application.
