Hi,
In addition to your overall application (GPAs, DAT scores, ECs), would Adcom also based their selection on your financial situation? For example, a private dental school is choosing between two applicants with similar stats. The only difference is that one of the applicant is listed as a disadvantaged student (financially). Would the school choose the applicant who can most likely afford the school's tuition and look down upon the disadvantaged student? In other words, does putting oneself down as disadvantaged status (could be financial or other reasons) negatively impact the view of Adcom towards your application? Assuming one is legitimately disadvantaged.

1. The hypothetical "two students with identical stats being compared side by side except one of them has ____________" situation never actually happens in practice. Ever.

2. No, your financial situation would never be a significant decision making criteria when it comes to admissions.

I think most people would have to take out loans to pay for dental school (especially an expensive private one) unless they get scholarships. Even people who aren't disadvantaged typically can't afford $400k. So I don't think being a disadvantaged student would negatively impact you.

When it comes down to selecting between the two, that's when they send an interview, that'll really set them apart.
