Hello all,

Sorry for bringing this up again because now, I'm working real hard on this statement. I already wrote around 3500 characters including spaces about the personal statement. I think I pretty much put everything into it, like my fam background, personal experience why I wanted to be a pharmacist, a bit high school memorabilia in science courses, college story that supports me more to choose this career, volunteer experience (just a bit), and finally, short-term and long-term goal.

Well, the max is 4500 characters. Do you think I should put more words in it because mine is 3500 characters? Is the more the better?

How many people proofread your PS before you eventually e-submitted it? Do you always listen to each person's suggestion about it?

Anyone interested in PF-ing my PS is very welcome.

Thank you

The key is quality, not quantity. 👍

It is not necessarily that you have to write 4500 characters for the PS. Again, it's just a maximum limit. I think your 3500 characters PS will do just fine (assuming that you have done a good job).

As of proofreading, only one friend of mine (who is an HR specialist) proofread for my PS. But I would recommend the more the better...At least you should someone who is really good with English (grammar, spelling checking, etc...) for the mechanic proofread; also, you should ask another one who is actually in the field of pharmacy (your pharmacist?) to check for your motivation, thoughts, organization....

Good luck 😉

People should be reading your letter primarily to see that it flows well, gives an overall good impression of you, and answers the prompt thouroughly. It is best to run a spell check and grammar check (if available) before you have other people read your letter.

I spent about 1 month on my PS last year and had many people read it.

My advice for your PS, start with a good strong attention getter. Make the reader remember who you are. Be unique and original. 🙂

I used all the characters for my personal statement when I applied last year. The way I saw it, that space was there for me to show the admissions committe what I was about, so I wanted to use all the space available. That being said, don't add "fluff" just to fill up the space. If there is anything else legitimate that you want to add, then add it. If I remember right, the essay prompts you to address quite a few issues--I needed all the space to convey what I wanted to. Best of luck with you statement. Make sure you have people read it...especially an advisor or pharmacist.
