I’m just wondering if anyone had a similar experience with my situation. My introductory attempt at college ... Well , to say the least, it just was not good. Long story short, I went into the working world first. After pharmcas did its calculations, my non science gpa is only a 2.4 . Which is kind of discouraging. However, my cumulative gpa is a 3.06 with 120 hours , and the good thing is my science gpa is a 3.66 with 60 hours, and I will graduated shortly with a B.S. in Cellular biology. I have a fantasic upperward trend and I did explain this in my personal statement, but I’m just wondering if the admission committee will dwell on that non science gpa. Also, i do have 5 years exp in the pharmacy and 2 years of volunteering in the hospital.

Im in the same boat, my first time around i was really irresponsible, and my grades show...2.97 gpa. This time around, I have a 4.0. My advice is to talk to the school(s) you are interested in applying to and tell them about your situation. When I called the school I most want to go to, the admissions director said that for people with a 4 year degree, there is a "clean slate" program, which is internal to the school, so even when you put your elective classes with poor grades on your application, they only look at the core science courses, all your electives wil be pass/fail, which is good. The only down side is that if you do this, you HAVE to retake every core science course, so this only applies to your electives, which was good for me, because i have a BS in computer science, so i had no chem, bio, etc, just calculus.

Hope this helps.
