Albany Acceptances

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Ill assume no responce means that no one else got them... did anyone else hear anything though?

The committee is/has met today. I doubt we will hear anything today.

So then Superman, whats your guess?

I suppose we could hear by tomorrow...if they do indeed notify us by email. The absolute earliest by Thursday (if by mail and depending on where you live). But again, we are assuming they got through everyone's applications today...which is not likely...so the wait could be longer.

I had 1! After my first interview i was asked if i felt as if i wanted a second interview, and i said that no i felt comfortable with 1. No one else was even given the option! My stats are about average, so I know i didn't completely blow them away, but the interview did go well. ive been worried about it ever sence!

No clue what i means!

When did you two interview? I was there on the Dec 21st and I haven't heard anything yet.

the week after you, Apperently they are behind due to christmas (just like all the other schools), Your file was probably discussed today, mine next week or today

I interviewed at albany on october 18th (their first interview date) and they explained to us their admissions process. First, they interview each applicant and have a meeting to discuss each individual shortly after the interview. At this meeting they assign the applicant a numerical score based on their impression, his numbers, and his ECs. After everyone has been interviewed they rank every applicant based on this score and then send out acceptances to people ranked highest. Therefore, if they finished interviewing then its possibles that decisions should come out soon. I called them in november and they said they should have decisions sent out by late december or early january.

All the best of luck,
Dave

Yeah, I interviewed Dec. 20th. They told me that we would hear early Jan.

congrats! I havent heard anything, but i interviewed last week... Do u know if they are going to keep giving acceptances out every week from here on out? or do i have another couple months to wait!

Not to worry. The reason you only had one interview is because they did not have enough interviewers for that specific day. If you had said yes to a second interview, the admission office would have just found someone who was willing to give an extra interview to you. That's all it was.

sorry for the double response. Thought the first one didn't go through

Your numbers are very good. You will be get accepted somewhere, but it would be wrong for me to speculate as to where, especially in this game. The admissions process is not a science. Sure, some aspects of it may be straight forward, but there are numerous factors that go into a making a decision on an applicant. Good luck on the rest of your interviews.

Only 1 person so far? The wait is killing me. Has anyone else heard anything?

I'm also waiting to hear back. Does anyone have the current MSAR stats for interviews/acceptances? I seem to recall that Albany had relatively high acceptance rates post-interview.

Bump. Is anyone willing to help out with the current MSAR? I would really appreciate it. And best of luck to all of us waiting to hear, about interviews and post-interview decisions. :luck:

The MSAR for Albany says: applied (6767) interviewed (683) and matriculated (135)...it doesn't list the actual number accepted but I would guess that it's at least 2X the matriculation, if not more....so yes, they do accept a larger percentage post interview than most schools...it's prob somewhere in the 40-50% range.

Thanks Lolita, that's really helpful. Did you also apply to Albany?

I was looking over the MSAR but couldnt find this information (found applicants and how many matriculated, but not the interviewee data. If you could post a direct link that would be helpful in looking at other schools. Thanks.

Yup, I interviewed there on 12/14 and was accepted by email on 1/3...I really liked the school and everyone I met there was super friendly...I am prob going to withdraw though b/c I've been accepted to a SUNY closer to home now..so hopefully I am opening up a spot for someone on this list! Best of luck everyone 🙂

congrats to those accepted! 👍

not to hijack the thread or anything, but do you guys know if an early march interview (which is when mine will be) means interviewing for the waitlist? do you know when their interview season ends?

thanks for your help! i'm wondering if i should reschedule my interview to an earlier date! 🙂

happy, not sure if you'd be interviewing for the waitlist in March, but the earlier your interview, the better chances you have of an acceptance.

Speaking of which, the committee meets every Tuesday (that's tomorrow!) to discuss interviewees. Anyone know if they send out e-mails the same day? Seems like last week's e-mails went out on Wednesday the 3rd, so my best guess would be that they wait until the next day. If anyone knows otherwise, please post! And best of luck to those of us waiting to hear :luck:

Bumping again. They're probably deciding on our files as we speak! I really loved my visit to Albany, and would be so happy with an acceptance. Last year's acceptances came by e-mail on Wednesday, so we should hear back really soon. Let's keep each other posted and good luck to us all!

Congratulations to those who have been accepted.

I am a current MS1 at AMC. If anyone has any questions about the school, feel free to PM me.

Good luck!

I'm also freaking out here! So glad we have this SDN community for information and support.

Oh, the acceptance thread was just bumped up, and I had a near heart attack when I saw that another acceptance to Albany was posted, until I noticed that it was from last week. May we be able to post in that thread soon!

agreed! I was terrified somone would say that they already got an e-mail, and i was out of luck!

I know im not going to be able to sleep tonight! I just want that first acceptance!

Hope to speak with you tomorrow!

Don't want to scare anyone, no news yet. Was just wondering if people who heard last week remember the approximate time e-mails were sent out?!

I'm trying to keep my mind off of it.. but I couldn't sleep well last night, and got up really early anyway to check e-mail. I know Disinence is probably doing the same! Anyone one else waiting today?

Hey...I don't have a "direct link" b/c I got it out of the MSAR book...the book has applicants, interviews, and matriculants for each school, but not accepted...I think the USNews book has the number accepted though.

Also, for those waiting to hear back today, I got the email last week at 2:30 in the afternoon.

:luck: everyone

So true! I got like 3.5 Miserable hours of sleep, ahh. I think last week they were sent out around 1 ish, but im not sure what time zone the guy was talking about.

I woke up checked my e-mail and stared in anticipation as i saw the subject "Application Accepted.....For a NEW credit card"

I hate spam, it nearly killed me

So...this is a preemptive request to anyone who gets an acceptance today (assuming they ever send out the e-mails). PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post the day you interviewed.
Thanks

Anybody hear anything? I'm so nervous right now! Wondering if I should work up the courage to call and ask if decisions have been made.

I find it very funny that someone who interviewed in mid december received their decision before I did. I interviewed at albany on october 18th (first day of interviews).

Best,
Dave

So I worked up the courage to call.. They have an automated system with options to get info about the school and different programs, and then a fourth option for if you know the name of the person you want to speak with. I'm not sure who exactly I should talk to.. and pressing zero doesn't work to get the front desk.. Anyone else care to try?

hmm Thanks. I have no idea who i would want to talk to either though. Plus im not even sure if they would tell me if/when there sending anything today. Maybe there taking a break?

Well today sucks so far!

Ok update... I would recommend calling, because they'll at least tell you whether or not they've decided on your file. They haven't sent out anything official, but they let me know that I was accepted. I interviewed last week, and I'm sooo incredibly excited right now. My heart is still racing. Wow. They're really friendly at the admissions office, so no harm in calling. Just press 4 and you'll speak someone live. Best of luck!!

The admissions office number is (518) 262-5521. It's the same one they send in their e-mails. Good luck! I'm crossing my fingers for you!

She put me on hold for the 10 most excruciating minutes of my life, but it was worth it!

I got in!

I dont even know what to do with my self, and i just total jacked up a transformation i was working on...

Well Perhaps we will be future classmates!
THANKS FOR CALLING! Otherwise ide still be stressing. Although i still wanna see the letter!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was put on hold also, for a long time after I asked if decisions from last week were made, then for a couple of seconds after Jackie (who is wonderful) entered my AMCAS number. Maybe she was getting clearance to deliver the good news by phone?! Maybe we will be classmates, Albany was definitely the friendliest school I've interviewed at so far. Everyone seems genuinely happy to be there.

I'm super excited and 99.99% relieved now, but I know how you feel about not having the letter yet. That's when I'll fully be able to exhale.

This is one of the greatest days of my life. Congrats again to all of us!
