Hi,

I interviewed here recently and I really liked the program from what we learned during orientation.
However, I don't know much about this program besides what I was told.
I want to rank it high, but I am not from the area and would like to make a well-informed decision before going through with this.

Financial issues aside (I believe they are financially stable, though West Penn obviously had some major problems...), can ANYONE help me?!

Any info you know, impressions of the program, etc would be *greatly appreciated*.

Thanks so much!

Not sure what you mean. I believe the first year is deemed "AOA equivalent" for licensing purposes, if that's what you're worried about. It doesn't make sense for them to worry about being dual-accredited right now, given the merger.

FYI, as of at least last year, DO interns (including the cat IM residents) participated in OMM didactics and OMT workshops, so obviously they were getting training to fulfill the PA licensing requirement.

Also, if you're worried about being eligible for the AOA boards, I really wouldn't worry , as from what I've heard it is not all that difficult to sit for them if you did an ACGME residency. It's just more paperwork.

but on the AOA website, it's technically not considered dual-accredited. also, you have to apply for the program via AOA if you're a DO student = stupid.

Its not dual-accredited. Its the intern year that's AOA accredited. It doesn't matter, because its recognized by the DO boards and ACGME accredited, so practically its the same thing.

As far as making DOs match via the NMS, that's actually the policy of multiple programs in the network. I've heard it from a lot of dual-accredited programs too. It is unfortunate.
