Hello all, I am applying for the 2011 Allergy Immunology fellowship. Just wanted to connect with other applicants to see if any one got interviews so far. I have gottne an interview from Henry Ford, and a rejection from Johns Hopkins. That was one the worst rejection letters I have ever received BTW.

Hello all, I am also applying for the 2011 Allergy Immunology fellowship. i also got an interview from Henry Ford, and no rejections (yet), i sent 40 applications.

Hello! I was hoping a thread like this would open up. I, too, am waiting for replies. I have only heard from one program so far, Johns Hopkins, and of course it was a no. It made me very sad!! I only applied to 17 programs and am now starting to get very nervous. Good luck to everyone else and I hope we meet on the interview trail...assuming I get interviews : )

Hi! I'm also applying. Haven't heard from anyone yet, either way. (But then again, I didn't apply to Hopkins or Henry Ford, so I guess I won't sweat it too much yet.) One program still hasn't even downloaded my application.

Good luck!

hi all, I have heard from three programs today, Johns Hopkins, university of TN and northwest and of course it was a no. still hoping for interviews

I will tell you that Johns Hopkins is only the top program in the country. I would not sweat it that you got a no letter from them. I am a practicing allergist and all you need is to get into A program. Good luck.

Hello again! Have now heard from UT Memphis, Duke, and Univ of Cincinnati. Anybody hear from the Virginia prorgrams yet? Or Ohio State? Also, to allergyasthma...thank you for your kind words!! I think we will all try to remember that.

i will also echo my thoughts on the jhu rejection letter... i also agree that it was a pretty rude letter... interviews reveiced so far...

creighton university
henry ford

again! Have heard today from three programs, got one interview from creighton university
and two rejections, one from florida and one from Pittsburgh.
things are moving,
Good luck to everyone else and I hope we meet during the interviews

you guys are lucky to have each other during the application cycle. when i applied, no one really posted and it was pretty lonesome 🙁

good luck to you all!

hi clevelandall, was this the florida program in tampa or st petersberg??

hey allergydoc, it was st petersberg.

i am med-ped, any other med-ped out there.

anyone heard from the ohio programs?

Hey! I am also Med-Peds. I called Ohio State...they will be sending out letters likely next week. Also, what Pittsburg program did you guys hear from?

hey megs ,
it was university of Pittsburg medical center, does Duke have adult program?

hi all, i was waiting for a thread like this would open up,

did anyone hear from the massachusetts, or california programs?

i am a med resident and i only applied to programs in massachusetts and california, i havnt heard anything yet and am now starting to get nervous. even though One program in boston still hasn't even downloaded my application.
i was so confident because i have some publications in all/immuno so i didnt apply to a lot of programs,
i am thinking now , maybe i should send more applications, what you guys think??

hey Bostonall,
Boston Uni didnt download my application yet.
i heard from the and Sandiego saying that they received my application and will get back to me soon.
i also have one publ and 2 posters presented at the AAAI, but i applied to 40 programs,
i think it is more competieive then you think, you should sent more applications, good luck

bostonall, i would have to agree with clevelandall... i am sure that you are an excellent candidate, but mass and cali are the most competitive states for med school, any residency, and any fellowship.... and in getting jobs, for that matter... on top of that, allergy is one of the most competitive fellowships so you really are limiting yourself... if you are lucky enough to snag something in these places, then you'll totally rock... but if i were you, definitely apply to a couple "safety" programs...

having said that, i applied all over mass and cali (in addition to others) and haven't heard a thing yet from either... i spoke with a friend of mine who is going to u of miss this july and he said that he didn't get any interview calls until feb... so those of us getting jan calls are abnormally early if you think about how long this process is... some interviews go into april and may... i personally think that this huge lag is asinine, but that's just me...

celevelandall, thanks for the info... i am really awaiting tampa, though it is super competitive and i will be LUCKY if i get a call from there...

Yes, Duke has an adult program. I am not sure how much crossover there is besides the regulatory 80/20 but I did see that AI is not listed as a subspecialty fellowship from their pediatrics website, only the IM website. Am intrigued to find out! BTW, are you from Cleveland?? I have not heard from Cleveland Clinic, you?? 🙂

hey megs,

nothing from the clinic yet,
i wanna call them next week .
yes from cleveland

MEGSMD,
can you apply to Duke if your med resident or do you have to be a med-peds

hope this coming well will be fruitful for all... out of curiosity, did anyone apply or look into the 3 year combined a/i plus rheum??

Okay...I was just researching the Duke program a little more closely and realized that all along I was looking at the Pediatric page. So in response, I don't know if straight IM can apply. I find that it's often hard to tell and now that most programs are going "combined" it sometimes doesn't matter because there is so much crossover...sometimes it just matters because the medicine vs. peds side is where your payline comes from! I will hopefully find out soon though and can let you guys know...I am excited for my first interview!

Hey all,

I'm applying from the peds side of things. So far only have an interview at University of Wisconsin. Starting to get nervous, but will play the waiting game. Good luck and will probably see you on the trail if it develops.

You can only apply to duke as a pediatrics trained resident. if you look on ERAS and try to add the program, it will say pediatrics only.

Hey guys,
Great day today 😍 got interviews from northwestern, university of Tennessee and Pittsburg, and a rejection from john Hopkins 🙁,
I am glad I sent more applications. I guess I am not cali worthy resident…

By the way, over a thousand viewed this thread, but only five or six of us are actively communicating, what’s the deal ??? 👎

i am trolling on this site for next interview year. bostonall, i was wondering how many pubs/posters you have?

hey johnnywalker, i like your name😉
i have 3 pub in all/ imm, 2 as a first author , 4 posters, 2 in AAAAI and 2 in easter all conf

good luck for next year

hey all, i heard from Ohio State today,
cleveland clinic should start sending out emails next week.

Good job bostonall,
i hope you ll get somthing in cali.

what you guys think of henry ford?, i am interviewing there next month but i ve been hearing mixed messages...

yeah, i got an email from the program coordinator saying that they will send out invitations to ohio state university today... unfortunately, i didn't hear anything... so i am assuming rejection??? one thing that always ticks me off is when you don't hear anything from a program... it honestly doesn't bother me if i don't get an interview call, but when we've spent the time (and money) to apply to a program the least they can do is to let us know where we stand.... that way, instead of constatnt anxiety and waiting around, we can plan for the calls that we do have....

congrats on the calls bostonall... do let us know when you hear from any of the boston or cali programs.. out of curiosity, have you tried emailing them or asking when they plan on sending out invites??

hey Bostonall,
when is dedline to submit poster to the eastern allergy conference??

Abstracts for the Eastern Allergy Conference May 6-9, 2010 Due April 1st

Thanks bostonall,

good news, i heard today from tampa , i am soo happy:laugh:

hey clevelandall,
i also got tampa, and it will be my first,,I am excited for my first interview🙂

Congrats guys. Tampa is a great program. Any idea if the interview calls are a "rolling" process, or whoever was selected that's it? Cause I also applied to Tampa but haven't heard anything as far as a rejection letter.

Do you guys know of a ranking list for the best programs??

I am in the long process of waiting to hear about interviews and I haven't heard from any Cali programs either. Does anyone anything about the LSU-Shreveport program?

Hey guys! How is everyone? Is anyone still getting interview invites/rejections? I haven't heard anything from any program in the last week...

rejection from university of michigan, call from ut galveston....

Hi everyone, I also got a rejection from University of Michigan last week. I've also heard from Creighton and U of Rochester, not good news. I have an invitation from Tulane, Pittsburgh and U of Tennessee. Everyone I talk to hasn't heard from CA programs. Has anyone heard from the Chicago programs or from PA programs?

I have an IV invitation from U Penn and mount sinai last week. still no response from CA program.

hey all.
i got rejections from university of michigan and univ of pennsylvania,

socalpeds , i heard from chicago( northwestern , i thing they are already interviewing)

I am guessing that some of the programs have rolling admissions...I have not heard anything at all back from University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and it looks like both rejections and invitations have been sent out to other people on this website. Guessing your position is no fun! I wish you always got a straight up yes or no...being left hanging sucks. So how long does interview season last? It looks like a lot of programs still have not sent out invites. clevelandall, did you hear from Cleveland Clinic? still haven't heard from them. BTW in case this helps anyone else, have also heard from UT memphis, univ of cincinnati, and OSU

Hello everyone! so excited thatI just found this! I don't know ANYBODY who applied to Allergy from my hospital! Thrilled to have found this, and will have to check this out more when I get home. I only have 2 interviews so far, btw. U of Tenesseee, and SLU...rejected from Hopkins as well ;-)

sorry, I think I just posted that wrong--I'll get it--sorry, in a hurry 🙂

hey all

rejected from university of michigan

interview from washington iniv

still nothing from massachusetts or california

i called a friend who is doing a fellowship in cali and he was told by the program director that there has been an unusual intrest this year in all/ imm nationwide. with unprecedented applications which will make it verry competieive for the limited number of training positions.

i dont understand that , with all the health care reform and decrease reimburcement?
any ideas??
