Hi all,

I listed a school that I have never attended in the "Planned Courses" section, and obviously I don't have transcripts for that school yet. I'll be attending it starting next semester. I just e-submited today, and I was checking the status section. It says "not received" under transcripts for that school (all other schools' have been received). Will they mail out my app? In other words, do they know that since it's a planned course, I don't have transcripts currently? Or are they going to hold it??

Thanks in advance!

I would suggest that you contact PharnCAS ASAP and notify them. Hopefully it won't be a serious issue.

I'm a Pre-Pharm freshman, researching about application process. I'd like to have letters of reference from math professor, science professor and from a pharmacist if I had a job as Pharmacy Technician. The only math class I do in the whole program is Calculus I, should I ask my math Prof to write me letter now? or until the time I apply, by the beginning of 3rd year, I'm afraid that long time could make my prof forget impression about me. But in the PharmCAS page, they say about eLoR, form(s). I'm not sure about those. Could you please make it clear for me and exactly how you guys do your LoRs?
Thanks so much!

P.S: the counselors I met are hopeless, they didn't give me answers I need, indeed, created more questions for me.

If you are a freshman and think you can get a recommendation, I would let the professor be aware of this and maybe have them write the letter and save it for you. Another option is to open up a file with your school. At my university we were allowed to open a file with our counselors and they would get any LOR we received and keep it until we were ready to apply to school. I know some people in your situation and they simply asked them to write the letter in advance and save it on their computers or something like that.

When PharmCAS shows the estimated average GPA of accepted students for a specific school is it their prerequisite or cumulative GPA?

Hi
I have done my bachelors in Economics which has nothing in common with pharmacy. So i had to almost take all the pre-req at a college
Here is my question: which gpa are they going to look at, B.A or pre-req ?
(I must mention that my bachelor is a foreign degree.)

They will give preference to your pre-req GPA but they may look at both.

I finished nearly all of my PharmCAS application, but I am still not quite finished with getting transcripts and the headache that is making sure my courses from Montana State and the University of Montana are equivalent with the ones at my target schools. I see some people have already submitted their applications and I am curious, am I way behind? Or is it just being paranoid?

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Myself, my goal is to have PharmCAS submitted by the end of August, and supplementals done a couple weeks later. I'm in summer school until Friday, so my grades (in o-chem no less!) won't be posted until September 1st.

Not all all. I submitted mines 2 weeks before the Dec 1 deadline. However, my schools (except for 1) did not have rolling admissions, so applying early had no real impact

You are still within good time. Just try and have everything finalized and then e-submit your application as soon as possible. Once you have completed your PharmCAS app, then it's time to get started on the supplemental ones if required by your schools of choice.

hey everyone I had a question regarding the transcripts on the application. I just finished taking my last prerequisite this semester, and of course I will include this is the pharmcas application. Now this fall semester I am thinking of taking some more classes but these are just all electives and none are prerequisites.

So my question is, do I need to include these fall classes in the pharmcas transcripts section to show that those fall classes will be taken, or can I just stop at this summer semester's course? Because I'm thinking if I include the ones from the fall that the application won't be complete until I complete those courses (plus the winter semester :O )

You need to still include the planned Fall courses. There will be an "open window" later on, starting in December (I believe), when you can change or add your classes you input.
I quoted myself so others can see my question. I have another question, though. So musicman says that I need to include the planned fall courses, regardless if they're prerequisites or not. Now, will doing this delay the application process at all? For instance, let's say I get invited for an interview and subsequently accepted, will I be able to go through this whole process of interview and acceptance with these fall grades not complete yet?

no. you're not the only one. think of all the other undergrads applying. of course they won't create a process that delays the processing of students in the traditional route.

Hello,
Im new to this forum so if this post is not in an appropriate area, please remove it to where it should belong.
So im still waiting for the third letter rec. i called pharmcas yesterday, and they said that i should submit my application and wait for the third letter rec instead of waiting for the third letter rec to be appeared on pharmcas.
And i did so. my question is, after i submit my pharmcas, can i still do the supplemental applications for some schools that only require 2 letter recs ?

I'm assuming you're talking about the PCAT admission ticket. Yes, your scores will be sent to your 2 indicated schools. If all the schools you want to apply to participate in PharmCAS and require the PCAT, then you should send your scores to PharmCAS directly. It'll save you some money.

If you didn't list PharmCAS as a recipient, then no, your scores won't get sent to PharmCAS. It will only go to the two schools you listed. The thing is, some schools ask that you submit PCAT scores through PharmCAS and NOT directly to them. You can add PharmCAS as a recipient anytime, but I believe it will cost you a fee. If anything, ask the schools you are applying to.. but if you're applying to more PharmCAS schools, I suggest just adding PharmCAS as a recipient as well.

& Try the PCAT forum for a bunch of threads regarding study materials from successful takers.

Has anyone submitted their application in the last 10 days or so, and if so has your GPA been calculated yet? For those that submitted in the first tier, does PharmCAS send you an e-mail when your GPA has been calculated? Just wondering how long it will take (I know they say up to 5 weeks).

PharmCAS does send you an email when your GPA is being calculated.
Didn't take more than 2 weeks after i submited mine.

Yes they will send you an email after each updates to your application. It took 1 night for mine to be calculated but I submitted my application in June so go figure.

Should summer transcripts be sent after grades are posted even though the academic update window isn't available?

Just e-submitted mine and had the transcripts ordered today also. Now to wait!!! :scared:

Is it a good idea to apply for fee waiver in pharmcas? I didn't see the fee waiver until earlier this week. I have all my apps ready, but I'm waiting for pharmcas to process fee waiver that I sent out. Have anyone in here apply for pharmcas fee waiver?

Do you think it is a good idea to wait or just pay it? Because I want to save up for travel expense in the future if I were lucky enough to get an interview far 😳

I applied for a fee waiver back in June and it was pretty quick to process. I would wait.

Thanks. Yeah, I didn't see it until Monday 🙁 and I actually started my apps back in June too. eeek!

I understand that you applied back in June when pharmcas was not overwhelmed with applications. Do you still recall how long you had waited?

@Delano2000: I saw the due date is Sept. 1, so I gave it a try. Hopefully to qualify for it. 😀 If not, then I will submit it next week....😉

I know this has been brought up many times, but i'm still confused. what's the difference btw submitting PharmCAS to all the schools at once vs. submitting to rolling ones 1st, then adding schools later??? Why is it that people recommend to add other schools later? Does it depend on when you're submitting supplementals? Thx in advance 🙂

You can add all schools at once instead of splitting them up like that. Once the non-rolling admissions schools open up for the app cycle, PharmCAS will mail the app to them. What we have been saying (meaning to say) is to apply to the rolling admission schools first because the earlier they get the apps from PharmCAS, plus your supp app, the better your chances of getting accepted. The choice is really yours. You can decide to apply to all of them at once or to split them up.

Hey everybody,

You have to e-submit first. Then after PharmCAS receives your transcripts they will calculate your GPA and notify you via email once it's done.

Does anyone know how schools look at your prereqs? Like for VCU, they need Biochem which I haven't taken yet. If I don't put that under planned courses for fall/spring will my application be automatically ignored on sight because I didn't mean their minimum classes? I know I'll have to take the course eventually, but I was planning on basing my spring schedule off of the school(s) I get into, if/when I get into any schools before the spring semester starts. Should I just put down every possible pre-req for every school that I would need (should only be
~ 20 credits, but I don't want to take that many if I don't need to)?

I was wondering about that too.

Anyone know???

I tried to read as much of this forum as I could to see if this question was answered, but there are so many pages! So I apologize if I'm repeating.

1) If I took a class in college that I got AP credit for, do I put both?

2) Am I correct that I put my AP credit courses in my first semester session in college?

3) If I submit my PharmCAS before I get my PCAT scores, will PharmCAS not verify the application and calculate GPA until those scores get to PharmCAS ?

4) If I have submitted PharmCAS but am not satisfied with my PCAT score (took it yesterday!) will I have the opportunity to take it again? And if so, how will that show up on the application? What if schools have already looked at my application by the time I take the next one (it'll be too late to apply for October by the time I get my scores, so I'll have to wait until January...)?

5) I took the PCAT October 2009 but did not send it to PharmCAS because I didn't want to apply that year and didn't think I needed to send it. However, I did send the August PCAT score to PharmCAS. Because it is all under the same PCAT CID, will both scores be sent to PharmCAS? Or do I have to pay to get that one sent as well?

Thank you to anyone who is willing to answer these questions for me!!!

I don't think your application will be automatically ignored. They may inquire about it though before moving on with your app or coming to a decision about acceptance or not. I would list it anyway and if you don't get an interview with them by the "Academic Update" window (December - February), then I would remove it.

1. Depends on what the course was. Generally AP science credits are not acceptable.
2. Not sure if you mean as a freshman course but either way you should definitely list it as a freshman course and use the "Special Classification" to indicate exactly what it was and how you took it. Plus, you should indicate that this is a lower level course as well.
3. PharmCAS will not wait on your PCAT results before calculating your GPA and sending the app to your selected schools. They will mail it off to the schools, assuming that everything else is complete, and once they receive the scores, they will send the schools an update.
4. First, I would check that those schools will even accept the January scores. Then you can register to take the next available test and select PharmCAS as a score recipient again and update that on the PharmCAS website (one of the few things you can edit/change after submitting the app).
5. If I am not mistaken, only the August score will be sent to PharmCAS. You would have to select to have the previous test scores sent to PharmCAS at an additional cost.

Hey Erin0522, I was in the same situation with the PCAT scores. Pearson reports all recent scores to pharmcas. Pharmcas recieved both my Jan 2010 and my June 2010 scores at the same time...even without me asking them to. As long as you list pharmcas as a recipient, they'll get both.

Good to know. Thanks for the correction. Wasn't entirely sure about that one.👍
