1st semester freshman year, I took Calc I and got a C- (1.7), after talking to my university advisors they said if i re-took the class the new grade would appear on my transcript but not calculate into my overall gpa.

So my question is, If i re-take this class at a different school(community college at home), will the amcas application use the new grade (re-taken) one for my for my science gpa or will it pretty much disregard it in the calculation like my university does on the transcrpit... thanks.. Sunny

I believe both grades will be included in the calculated gpa. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong..

AMCAS calculates your GPA using all grades on your transcript - even if your school doesn't use them to calculate their GPA. However, I have no clue how AMCAS deals with a retaken course, I assume it's as it does with any other course though.

I don't think it replaces grades, but I sure wish it did...replacing my freshman year F would change me from a 3.05 to a 3.25...I've got 2.5 years more to go... so...whatever 😡

BIG BUMP!!

I'm IN!!! Muahahahaha

Thanks to FuturaDocta for finding this old thread 👍
