I read the Getting Started guide on the AMCAS website, but still have some questions. I know this is early (I dont apply until this summer), but I have been wondering how I should enter this on my AMCAS. I really appreciate any help you can give me!

I did a semester abroad through a private American study abroad company at a foreign university. My transcript had the name of both the foreign school and the American company on it. I took 2 language courses there (20 credit hours).
so
Language 1 - B -15 hours
Business Language - A - 5 hours

My school transferred the credit as 3 language courses and 1 literature course with pass fail grades.
Language 1 - 9 hours pass
Language 2 - 4 hours pass
Language 3 - 4 hours pass
Comp Lit- 3 hrs pass

So, when I enter these into AMCAS, do I enter the language courses and literature courses under my school AND the foreign credits under a second section?

Do list the grades I got abroad next to the transferred credits (language + comp lit) or in the section for my study abroad program?

Will they even accept the grades from the study abroad program since it was an American company and not an American school? If not, do I still need to send a transcript?

Thanks!!

When you do education abroad, if the credits transfer back to your home institution and appear on your home institution transcript, this is how they're reported. Since your school accepted them as P/F, that's how they'll be reported on AMCAS. They won't affect your GPA positively or negatively.

Thank you for the info! So, I don't need to get the uscompany/foreign transcript sent in, correct?

Notdeadyet is right. Provided that the study abroad program wasn't through a US college or university that has their own transcripts (i.e., you go to Michigan State and did a study abroad program through Univ of Michigan in Rome), then the only reporting of the grades or classes is on your home institution's transcript that accepted them. Thus, if your home institution only listed them as P/F, then they won't impact your gpa. I had this same situation, and even called AMCAS to double check. No transcript required since the transcript was from a foreign school, and the grades don't count because they weren't listed on my home transcript. Congrats. I was breathing a big sigh of relief too. SO happy that semester wasn't run through a US institution! Who woulda thunk? 😀

If you want to, CAN you count these foreign classes into your GPA so long as they fall within BCMP?

No. Not unless it's on a U.S. college transcript as grades.

so i'm doing a semester abroad in a foreign country, and i'm getting graded at the abroad program, which was arranged through my college, but the grades will not be factored into my home institution's GPA -- then the dental school will also not factor these grades into my overall GPA, correct?

and never mind the fact, as you guys have stated above, that because it's a foreign institution, no transcript will be asked for, correct?
