you should talk to the course instructor and see if you can get the F removed directly from your records. You shouldn't leave the grade in your transcript and let the dental adcoms decide your fate because you didn't earn this grade.

My sister had the same thing happen to her. She put in the request to have a class dropped and it never went through. The registrars office pretty much told her "tough" and that they wouldn't do anything about it.

If you can't get the F removed, I'm sure it can be explained during interviews (so long as you don't have a lot of bad grades).

Ditto... If you cant get it removed, im sure it can be explained. Go down to the registars office and just raise some hell to get it removed, im sure you can get in front of a student counsil or somthing to get it removed if you keep fighting it. But if not, im sure it can be explained.

they may ask why you dropped trig to begin with.

I hate to say it but I see people make this type of mistake all of the time.

Note to self....

When you turn something in of any importance, in this case a drop form... Get a receipt. If they tell you that they do not have one have them write something down and sign it.

This rule applies to EVERYTHING in life.

Bottom line....

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS. Get it in WRITING.!

What's a TROLL??

troll v.,n.

1. [From the Usenet group alt.folklore.urban] To
utter a posting on Usenet designed to attract predictable
responses or flames; or, the post itself. Derives from the phrase
"trolling for newbies" which in turn comes from mainstream
"trolling", a style of fishing in which one trails bait through a
likely spot hoping for a bite. The well-constructed troll is a post
that induces lots of newbies and flamers to make themselves look
even more clueless than they already do, while subtly conveying to
the more savvy and experienced that it is in fact a deliberate
troll. If you don't fall for the joke, you get to be in on it. See
also YHBT.

2. An individual who chronically trolls in sense 1;
regularly posts specious arguments, flames or personal attacks to a
newsgroup, discussion list, or in email for no other purpose than to
annoy someone or disrupt a discussion. Trolls are recognizable by
the fact that the have no real interest in learning about the topic
at hand - they simply want to utter flame bait. Like the ugly
creatures they are named after, they exhibit no redeeming
characteristics, and as such, they are recognized as a lower form of
life on the net, as in, "Oh, ignore him, he's just a troll."

Regardless, the damage is done. Now is the time to light a fire under their asses and make the registrar's office make good on their mistake. This is your grade and your future. Don't let some government-employed secretary behing the counter tell you "tough".
