Anatomy Lab Groups: How are the selected?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Totally random question here, but I was driving home from the gym tonight when it dawned on me - I'm about to become pretty close to 4-8 now-strangers in anatomy lab this fall... and I began to wonder, how are individuals typically assigned to a lab-group?

I assume it varies by school, but what are some of the ways that people are assigned? Random number generator? By last name? Something more complex?

I'd love to hear any stories about how any of you, or your friends', lab group members were assigned to their respective groups.

If, as it implies in your sig, you'll be going to Jefferson, your lab group will be assigned to you. You'll be assigned to 2 other people who are in your PBL/small group, and 3 other people that you won't actually work closely with, but will share your cadaver with. It's fairly random.

It would be weird if they used your photo, assessed your hotness using the 1-10 scale, and then placed you with people in your range.

That would be awesome. Nothing but smokin hot *** for this guy......if that exists in med school.
