In terms of hours, income, job satisfaction/wlb how does anesthesia compare with IM subspecialties like cards/GI/onc/allergy, etc? 4 year vs 6 year training path is definitely a component for consideration.

If I was a medical student right now, the most important question I would be asking with regards to specialty selection is: How easy would it be for a corporate entity to replace me with a midlevel? And the likelihood of a midlevel having the same job description as you will be much lower in the IM subspecialties you listed.

Well, if you ask questions like that, then you'd end up dropping out of medical school.

Doesn't matter. What do you want to do with your life? A lot can be job dependent vs specialty dependent anyway.

Way too generic of a question. I am an interventional cardiologist and in my specialty alone it can be a chill lifestyle oriented position vs working like a dog.
