Rach, don't worry about tuition. You pay undergrad rates for the P1, P2 years at UT, so even out of state students don't have it so bad.

B.S. UT Dallas
GPA ~3.6
PCAT 92

Interviewed on April 22nd, so I guess another 3 weeks of waiting before the fat lady sings.

wait we pay undergrad rates for the first 2 years?!?! really??

i was certain mine was going up.

BA in Biochemistry
3.4 gpa

are any of you who got acceptances reapplicants by any chance?? if not then maybe theyre saving us for the last meeting!! this is truly the most nervewracking process ever!!!

Calc 1 in 1997. I got a B+ due to attendence 😡 .

Undergrad rates for 2 years! That's cool. I am trying to find a way to become a resident but to no avail. Anyone wanna trade home states 🙂 ?

i saw the out of state rates when they sent out all that info! yikes! oh well you will be able to pay it back! are you going to stay in texas after you graduate? i love florida too--1/2 of my family is there ( ft. lauderdale). i am such a beach girl i would have a hard time leaving! the beaches in texas just dont compare.

good luck again to everyone who is waiting or trying to make a decision! :luck:

If I fall in love with Austin, I have no problem staying in Texas after. Like Florida, there is no state income tax. When we start getting into the higher tax brackets, that should help 🙂 .

I grew up in Miami and now live on the coast near Kennedy Space Center. Our beaches (Atlantic side) are gorgeous. We have a major sea turtle mating area and doing night hikes watching them lay eggs is surreal. I will miss this sleepy 😴 little place.

Hi all, I am trying to find a CHEAP and clean summer 2 sublease close to campus but have no idea where anything is and what bus routes go where. Know anyone or have any suggestions where to look (areas or websites)? Thanks!

I can't believe there are only 6 names on the roll call list for UT. I am a student here and I know several people who have gotten in but don't post on SDN. I am so excited to start in the Fall and meet all my new classmates (although 4 years of high tuition is going to be hard). For those still waiting, there is still another round of dcisions to be made, so don't give up hope! How old will everyone be when you start in the fall?

I will be 20

Try looking on Craigslist under Austin:
http://austin.craigslist.org/
then look under housing. If you are within a few blocks of campus then you can just walk. A lof of the listings on craigslist will say if they are close to a UT bus route. Hope this helps

mLe--i will be 20 too

Our thread keeps growing and growing.

Thanks for the Craiglist site. I would love to live with someone in Pharm.
I'll be 28!!!! We are going to have a kick butt 30th B-day party during P2. 9hopefully you all will want to come 😉 .)

Are you still waiting, or did they send out a denial?

When I heard that the ADCOM was sending out emails of acceptance some friends of mine at the school were skeptical. They said that it's unusual to email letters of acceptance. However, things could've changed for this year.
Anyways, just b/c you didn't hear from the school it doesn't mean that you are not a better applicant than the guy who has a 4.0 with a 99. It's not a "shoe in." UT just takes a long time b/c they like to look at the applicant as a whole. So if you haven't heard anything yet, it shouldn't be taken as a bad sign. It's just that they are looking at you good and they are just doing their job. Rember those essays that we had to write on interview day? They have to read those too. It's nice to know that they are taking their time to evaluate everyone fairly. If you don't get in this year, it's good to look at what is lacking in your application and improve in that area. I hope this helps some people who are feeling down from the lack of response.

When I saw the subject heading "UT Pharmacy Acceptance" from Ann Spencer and opened the e-mail, this is what it said:
"Congratulations on your acceptance into the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program in the College of Pharmacy for Fall 2006. You should be pleased in your successful application, since we had an outstanding applicant pool.
Your admission is made with the understanding that you will satisfactorily complete all course work, including prerequisites, that you are currently taking this spring or will take in the summer.

Your acceptance letter, with important materials attached, will be mailed on Monday, May 8, 2006. Some of the attached material is for your information and some requires your timely response.

All of the College of Pharmacy faculty, staff and students look forward to seeing you in the fall.
My very best wishes to you,

Richard E. Wilcox, Ph.D."

I am waiting for the confirmation of the snail mail letter in my hands, but I am hoping that it is as real as can be.

If it wasn't I just don't know what I would do or feel. I think I would just go numb.

It's just that my friends told me that email acceptance was't done before and it's probably something that they started doing this year. But who cares what they say b/c they are not in the admissions commitee. It's awesome that you got in and I wouldn't doubt in my head that you'll get that letter.

They are probably e-mailing because we were all calling and driving them crazy, but we need to know 😱 . If I had to wait an extra week because my mail SUCKS, I'd leap into the ocean.

After May 22 anyone who is afraid of calling too much or calling at all for updates, let me know and I'll call. I'm good at disguising my voice  . We are all in this together.

i might definitely take you up on that offer!!! also, its nice that they made the subject of the email say acceptance in it because even opening an email from ut would be really tough. its nice to know what to look for now......hope all of us that have not heard yet will be given the opportunity to see that email soon!!!

I understand that they are looking at the person as a whole, but I think that its crazy that I haven't heard anything at all from them since my interview in feb. A simple letter saying that I am still in the running is all I need. I would rather have gotten rejected soon in the process, than waiting till the end of May to find out the bad news. I just hope I get some sort of email or letter in the next week to relieve my stress.

If we get in, let's reveal ourselves and go out for a drink. Our nerves deserve a little margarita.
Hey Rachgator, you might want to go to Baby Acapulco for ritas. They are the best!!!
(just stay away from the purple ones, they'll mess you up)

Not sure if I've ever had a purple colored drink before, but hey I'll try all the colors in the rainbow if we can hear some good news. I wonder if it's just my bad luck..each time I call the line goes to voicemail. Well, it's not like I would find out anything new, I'm sure they would just tell me to wait it out.

i really hate that that voicemail # is the only one that i can find for the pharm school. and when i did leave a message no one returned it. not cool! good luck again to those waiting. good things come to those who wait! 😀

my torture involves going over the interview a million times in my head. there are so many things i could have phrased differently. i felt like a nervous babbling idiot.

... no worries, just trying to realize the course of my personal career goals.

Velocitygrl and UTfarmer,
Did you apply to any other schools, or is it just that UT is your first choice? I only applied to UT this year, which now I think was kind of a stupid move because I didn't know if I would get in.

i made a similar choice in that i only applied to 2 schools this year. coworkers keep telling me that it doesn't matter where i get in, i should just go. i disagree.

besides, i think it's more painful to get rejected from schools i don't really care about.

UT is definitely where i want to be.
however, i anticipate rejection. so, i am preparing for next year's application.

Veolcitygrl,
Don't give up hope yet, there's still have one more round of reviewing to go. I think right now -no news is good news- at least for the next couple of weeks. If you don't get in, be sure and call the school and ask what part of your application was weak so that you can work on that part of it for next year. I agree that where you go matters. The only schools in Texas that I considered were UT and TT and TT was so far away that I decided not to even apply since I didn't think I would go there even if I got in.

thanks mLe!
i *really* do have an ounce of hope!

TT is the other place i applied. the rejection letter was kind and not as painful as i had thought it might be.

yet, after meeting with the students at UT and then all of YOU on here - there is no doubt in my mind about where i belong 😉

whether it be this year or next... things have to fall into place for us all.

I actually ended up going there when I was in Texas for my interview 🙂 . It was great. We all have to go!

For those of you looking for phone numbers, try this link and click on offices and/or staff: http://www.utexas.edu/pharmacy/general/directories/index.html. Maybe one of these can get you to a live person. I have also been told that Dr. Wilcox is good about replying to e-mails. He was a really nice man and not an intimidating jerk. (I hope he is the same when we are in his class 😀 .)

That's exactly how I feel!!!!! I wish they would let us know that we still have a chance ... or not! Because now I can't make any plans for the summer. I am about to graduate with my BS and I don't know if I should look for jobs or wait. It's really frustrating. Does anybody know if they have actually rejected anyone? Or is everyone that interviewed still in the running? I feel like I am just living one day at a time and I hate that. I like to know where I'm going to be in a month and what I will be doing. It feels like I'm going crazy. It does help to read everyones posts bc I know I am not the only one!! 🙄
Good luck to all of you and lets just hope we'll find out soon.
Oh, by the way, how many of you that did not get in YET, got letters form UT undergrad that you got inot UT? I didn't get anything at all.

I just called the school today and all the receptionist could tell me is that they will be meeting May 22 and sending out letters after that. I asked about the number of spots left and she didn't know. The previous time I spoke to someone they told me that they would also send out status letters (still under consideration, etc.) to everyone but I am not sure if these staus updates come before or after the next round of acceptance letters.

The best bet is for someone to e-mail Dr. Wilcox and ask him. He was so nice when I bothered him about the last round of interviews. If anyone is really afraid of bothering him, e-mail from a different e-mail address and don't put your name. But I don't think it should be an issue with him.

I will also ask everytime I call for anything there. 🙂

:luck:

a friend from class works in the pharmacy office there. i know everytime i call, she's the one that answers. maybe i can pull some info out of her haha.

PharmDeb,

Do you mean to tell me that you're still conflicted about whether you're going to UT or A&M? I'd be curious about what you decide (and why).

Also, if you're going to go to A&M after all, because of the recent affiliation changes made for funding purposes, your new subtitle runner should be:

"The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy, class of 2010." Now THAT, my friend, IS a mouthful (I also wonder if this could lead to the first-ever two-page long diploma)

CatSpam (see above runner for future affiliation).

I just loved that little pygmy marmoset when I first saw that picture! No, it's not my finger, but wouldn't that be the cutest thing to have holding on to you?

I haven't decided on the school. There are some personal issues that are making it hard. 🙁 But I have to decide by Thursday when a mini-may art class starts that I need for A&M, not for UT. Don't want to pay for it if I don't have to.

Believe it or not, I am still somewhat ambivalent. IF I get the nod from UT I have to admit it would be hard for me to say no for two reasons: UT is, of course, a known quantity, so to speak, whereas A&M is an unknown. Also, I lived in Austin for about two and a half years (about ten years ago) and I adore the place.

On the other hand, being a member of the FIRST class of what I'm sure will become an outstanding pharmacy school has a lot of appeal to it. You have to know that the school and the community in Kingsville are going to go ape over us to make sure that the first class out of the chute womps booty on the NAPLEX to assure their certification.

Honestly, as I said before, I am simply thrilled to be in pharmacy school. This is the first time in my life that I'm absolutely certain I've made the right choice of career and I can't wait to get started.
