Any advice for the best books to give a solid foundation in hard sciences?

So I already completed undergrad and everything. I didn't do well on the MCAT, and decided to get a masters in another medical practicing field. I plan on eventually trying again for MD/DO, but until I start school next fall and through graduate school, I hope to re-learn all of the hard sciences: Gen Chem I/II, Orgo I/II, Physics I/II, Biochemistry, etc. I'll probably re-take the MCAT a year or so after getting the masters.

Any advice for books that can give me a solid foundation in those subjects? For videos I'll probably use Khan Academy, but I'd also like proper textbooks, and not ForDummies/prep etc type books.

Prep books are best if you want to completely re-learn a subject? Aren't they brief review/summary books?

The Berkeley Review prep books are known to be very challenging and comprehensive; their objective is to overprepare you so that the real deal feels like a piece of cake.

Don't use college textbooks to study for the MCAT. It's not efficient.
