I don't know how I missed this song... but was out riding about a month ago and a buddy turned me on to this... Now it's in my helmet when I'm tearing it up at altitude.

Anybody else have some rockn' good stuff that is relatively new?

Here is an oldy but goodie.... Still pumps me up like the first time I heard it.

Not quite the high energy music as listed above, but I think they are pretty good. Plus, that's my cousin on the left with the black and white guitar. They're based out of Denver.

Hahaha that Breaking Benjamin song came off the HALO2 soundtrack. So, 2004? Definitely a great song, is on my running playlist.

I think Disturbed and Five Finger Death Punch are my two current favorite workout groups.

They have been around for a while but really digging Sevendust right now.

While we're sort of on the topic, this is still my favorite video game song: "Immortal" by Adema (from Mortal Kombat). It makes for a great workout song, too.

And my rock-workout music of choice is currently All that Remains and Lamb of God.

Something new (ish):

Something old that never gets old:

Disturbed.... :horns:

I was a little late to get into them too.

I really dig their sound. Powerful, energetic, adrenalin pumping sweatness. I'd have a cup of disturbed over my daily cup of coffee... any day.

Don't know Five Finger of Death Punch (haha... nice name btw).

Their cover of Bad Company has probably gotten the most airtime:

They have a good mix of intense/high energy and then slightly more melodious songs:

And one more, for good measure:

Some of their stuff is just too hard, though, be forewarned.

Intronaut

Gojira

Baroness (stupid video for a brilliant track)

and oh yeah High On Fire - this dude smells about as bad in person as you would expect him to

I'll spare you the obscure black metal stuff that is more of an acquired taste.

And of course now Opeth is touring with Mastodon, stopping in a town near me one week before oral boards.

Sup Dream. Nice to see ya posting on here dude. You prolly too busy being a bachlor in his prime...

Love the list you got there... I also like "get some" by Chevelle. That's a sweat tune.

Karnivool is a group from Australia... didn't make it big here... but they rock. Check 'em out dawg!

I've had "Themata" by Karnivool on my playlist for awhile; great song.

Also, my personal go-to workout song:

Not really new, but I really love "Kings and Queens" by 30 Seconds to Mars and "How We Operate" by Gomez.
If you like drummers, look on youtube for "Kings and queens" drum cover by a guy who plays along with the song on the side of a mountain. It sounds weird, but it is really pretty cool and he does a real good job with the song. Makes you appreciate drummers.

Youtube blocked at work, so no links.

Holy crap, this band is unbelievable. Thanks for the heads up!

Here's one of my favorite songs from Trivium, another great workout band. This one sounds a little like old Metallica.

Great guitars on that last tune.... real good.

I haven't slipped out of the good old heavy metal days of the late 80's to mid 90's... IMO, it's still some of the best music out there. Now there's black metal, speed metal, death metal... Still trying to get into alot of it.

One of my Top 5 heavy songs of all time.... by Megadeath while Marty Friedman was still in the band... man that guy rocks.

Tournado Souls (off Megadeath's best album "Rust in Peace"): Probably my favorite solo of all time. If you don't have the patience to listen to this... at least check out Marty at his best @ 2:15. This is a solo that starts off at a moderate tempo that ends with a BANG! Great harmony, arpegios, and overall feel/soul. Gives me the shivers....

Here is this stud rocking it... trying to be Friedman. Check ‘em out at 2:10 to give you the level of complexity that Marty Friedman has in his music. This young stud did his own rendition of the solo, which sounds fantastic... but it's NOT Marty. Still sick though, great finger speed.

Some classic shred for a Friedman fan that will really knock your socks off is anything by Jason Becker. Dude was unfortunately struck down with ALS in his prime, a tragedy for the ages. Friedman actually plays backup on this epic instrumental:

Unfortunately there's only a couple songs of theirs that are really solid...the other being:

I'm still around, sev. It's hard to come home and think/post about anesthesiology after passing the boards. I read this forum pretty regularly though.

I got into this song after going to several football games. I bought it and it gets me fired up for the gym and/or call.

Right there with you, sevo... Some of my favorites - not new by any stretch, but still good:

Sepultura:

One of my all time favorites by Slayer:

Something a little newer, Brujeria:

I thought for sure you were going to go Jackyl/DMC on us: (If you haven't heard this song before, and don't want to listen to the whole thing skip to 2:30)

That video was shot in Kansas City, too...

You had to bring up Slayer... huh...!

That is some good stuff. Love Kerry King (even when we backs up the beastie boys) and Dave Lumbardo (my second favorite drummer of all time).

Favorite Song:

Seasons of the Abyss. Lumbardo does a great job on this tune. Pumps me up for sure.

This is classic heavy stuff at it's best.

Great song, I love that whole album.

Ahhhh... Beastie Boys. No Sleep Till Brooklyn was great. I went many years not knowing that was King.

I've only seen Slayer live once. It was in Lawrence, Ks. Tattoo the Earth concert. Slipknot, Slayer, Sevendust, Sepultura, and many more... it was awesome.

Had to rock out to some Lamb of God after matching

Nice!! That's one of my two favorite LoG songs ("Hit the Wall" being the other)...those two are currently 1-2 on my running playlist.

Also, congrats on matching!

Awesome to see some Karnivool and Baroness on here - I love those bands.

Here's Traverser, a great Florida band I found out about when I saw them open for Karnivool. They're about to release a new album.

Some rockin' Porcupine Tree:

And for those who appreciate some rockin' post-rock, here's If These Trees Could Talk:

This one a little older but still good:

I was running out of steam, about to slog through another set of dead lifts, when this one came on and gave me the motivation I needed.

Dream...

Dude...

Love, love, love it.....

Never heard it, but..

Nice freak’n tune.

Thanks for sharing.

Anyone into the Black Keys?

They are fantastic. If you like the Keys you will like the Black Angels. I'm not really a "metal" fan with a few exceptions. I prefer good rock and roll with a blues twist. People like Jack White playing the **** out of the guitar. Think Led Zepplin back in the day. Still the all time best band to ever step on stage.

They are amazing live. By far my fav. band to watch live.

R they touring?

New album this year (5 yrs in the making).

Gonna be epic.
