How competitive is it for us? Im interested but have a low level 1 and am a DO student

I checked a few acgme programs and my score is above the minimum they listed for COMLEX, but not sure if that means i have a realistic shot.

What do people think about AOA neurology programs?

Thanks

The AOA Neurosurgery Programs’ sole objective is to train the complete neurosurgeon that is exceedingly competent in academic and clinical neurosurgery. The AOA Neurosurgery Programs want individuals who practice medicine with kindness and compassion and who communicate with respectful logical actions and words.

Ummmm...just a tad off topic, dude.

I did fine with mediocre level 1 score. I matched an allopathic program in my top two (my first and second choice were a toss up) and had a ton of interviews.

Congrats. Can I ask what your score range was? 400-450, 450-500, 500-550?

Did you automatically get an in house IM prelim spot or did you have to get that on your own separately?

Hi all! How do you make the most of your rotations?

Schedule a neurology rotation early or midway through your MS3 year to see if you really want to go into neurology, preferably with exposure to inpatient and outpatient neurology.

If you already know you want to go into neuro and are looking into allopathic neurology residency programs
1. Schedule away rotations at allopathic university/academic programs for July and August
2. Do well on said rotations
3. Obtain letters of recommendation from attendings you've worked with at those rotations

Did you take the USMLE too?

Apply broadly, including a few reaches as well as a few backup programs. Do an away rotation or two at MD programs and get a LOR from someone there, a PD if possible.

Agreed. And obviously take the USMLE steps 1 and 2 if possible.
