It is my 2nd time applying and it looks like I am not getting in anywhere. I am an intl. applicant and in process of finishing a PhD degree. I had a med school interview and got waitlisted. Today, I was told that my waitlist does not look promising and that I would not probably get in this year primarily due to my MCAT and getting some B in grad school.

UG: 3.19 AO and science
Grad: 3.67
MCAT: VR/PS/BS 7/7/10 (08/2007) and 6/10/8 (08/2003) (24 anyway u put it)

I was advised to improve grades by getting all A's and getting my VR up. I started looking into SMP's since some of them allow to take classes with med students. I am tired and want to do this right next time. Are there any program that are not only available to US citizens/residents that guarantee acceptance if you can a certain GPA/MCAT?

I think there are a limited number of programs that guarantee acceptance to their medical school as long as you do well (can't remember which off the top of my head), but they generally only accept under-represented minorities who are US citizens. Try looking at SMP programs. I think several accept applications from international students (such as the Georgetown SMP and Loyola MAMS). However, they may have MCAT cutoffs (not sure about Loyola, but Georgetown has fairly strict cutoff of 27 for the MCAT). I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

I am not sure why their cutoff is pretty high. I just have to retake MCAT to get in to a program that will prepare me for med school.

I think the MCAT cuttoff is high to keep the SMP's acceptance rate into med school high. SMPs are generally for people with lower GPAs. A person with a high MCAT will have a greater chance of getting into med school.
