Random thread alert.

I'm working on a couple of job applications and thinking about the second batch a bit too much. I know there is a senior members thread for people who are into lifting, but I haven't achieved this senior member status yet.

I'm curious if anybody on here is really athletically-inclined. I rowed varsity openweight for all of college, and physical fitness has been a great outlet/tool for keeping me focused and disciplined.

Anybody else into these sorts of pursuits? I'd be curious to see your times (mile, 5k's, and 10k's for runners--2k's for rowers) and 1RM lifts. I'm just getting into gymnastics, so I know a bit less about that.

Sorry if this is already a thread, but I don't have access to the one for senior members yet.

My stats:
Bench: 245 for reps (2 or 3)
Squat: 250 for reps back squat/225 for reps on front squat
Deadlift: 380 raw for two (no gear)
Height: 6'2.5"
weight: 178 lbs

I lift and do martial arts! Let's see, PR for squats is 200, deadlift is 195, and a super weak 65 for bench hahaha. I'm sure you'll get bigger numbers from the guys, LOL. I used to be in Track and Field during most of high school, but I quit to rejoin Tennis during my senior year :cat:

rxdmx--what are your finish times thus far?

Sailor DDS--that is a respectable PR for squat, and I'm guessing your deadlift is pretty high in relation to bodyweight. Girls can bench too though--don't give up!

For squats, I'm at 250 for a couple reps, deadlift at 380 raw, and I'm repping out 245 on bench. Still a sub 900 total, but I'm getting close.

I just finished a cut from 205 to 178 for the summer. Sailor DDS has the option of sharing bodyweight if she is comfortable doing so.

Squat: 225 (3x)
Bench: 200 (3x)
Mile Run: 4:57
Rowing 2k: 6:32

Height: 6'0"

Body fat: 7% body fat

Ahmadtoo--nice! How are you getting the body fat calculation? Did you use a BodPod or something? Calipers?

1rm:
Over head press: 155
Squat: 290
Bench: 210
Deadlift: 375

We made it to state finals for rowing and they checked my body fat then (It was even lower back senior year high school because I rowed lightweight ~I was unhealthily around 5%) this was done via calipers. This past year I had it checked at an "event" at my university gym, and it was checked via bio-electric impedance analysis scale ~7%.

Thank you 🙂

I am a fitness model/ professional phusique athlete.

I don't lift for strength rather to work and engage the muscle. Currently sitting at 205lbs and 5% bf. 4 weeks out from a show.

Take this very seriously. And plan to continue to train/diet through d-school. Probably put a hold on competing though. Will model for my sponsors if I have time.

Some working set numbers:

Bench 315 for 8-10
Front squat 225 for 12-15
Deadlift 405 for 12

I train very high volume and everything is on point from diet to training.

Any questions ask away🙂

Bro you strong as hell.

I have been lifting for a while. I injured my lower back recently so my squat numbers and deadlift numbers were from about a year ago. They are lower now. I stick to leg presses but I am finally getting back into back squats as of 3 weeks ago, just taking things not real heavy (285 for 5 reps last week).

bench: I lift for bodybuilding so I don't usually go below 8 reps, but I did incline bench 250x9 yesterday
Squat- before my back injury I was doing 330x10
Deadlift: I pulled 455x10, but I am fairly certain I can maybe do 405x1 right now because it has been so long.
6'0" and 215 lbs
I ran a 4.7 40 in high school but I have not timed myself in 6 years.

I train low volume high intensity. I have been training that way for a long time now. BUT, you can have the best routine in the world, however if you don't have a good diet you will not gain muscle. You can out eat a crappy routine and make gains.

So at 5'5" and 135 lbs, I'm small but I'm pretty happy with numbers. 🙂

My stats:
Bench: 205 1RM
Squat: 225 back squat 1RM
Deadlift: 225 1RM, my grip is holding me back. Haven't tried straps or gloves though!

Once summer is over I'd like to bulk up to around 140-145 range and get stronger. Wish me luck!

I don't run but I play basketball twice a week. Would love to get started on rowing!

I'd happily help you plan some rowing workouts if you can shoot me your best 500m and 2k times.

For the deadlift, I stopped using straps last year and worked on my grip strength. Sure, I lost 50lbs of my 1rm right away, but my grip and handshake strength have improved IMMENSELY.

Nah

Jk

5'9
I don't squat
But I do routinely go to the gym.... 3-4 times a week.... cardio then weights....

And it is the best ....
I'm slowly sculpting the bod, and hopefully I'll have a six pack for pre-doctor ladies.

What's your body weight?

149, 5'2 .__. lolol I'm trying to cut for interviews... HAHAHA. My fastest mile time was 7:06, so I'm not that great of a long distance runner. I'm more of a sprinter, but over everything, I'd rather hit punching bags. Well, I quit lately, because my mentor told me to take care of my hands, so I'm just doing a lot of cardio and eating lots of chicken breast. IIFYM <3

Just kidding, I'm only calorie counting and putting myself at a deficit since dental school apps exhausted my bank account, so I barely have enough $$$ to buy food. :nailbiting:

I still eat chicken and fish when I can, but I mostly eat vegetables. Super cheap, AND KALE IS YUMMY!

and toothknockn...that glycogen depletion tho...

I bought a suit and had it tailored about 8 months back. Now my thighs and arms make them too tight after serious lifting... I have t-rex legs...

5'11
lift on and off to keep healthy but mostly do cardio
dont really care about getting 'jacked' or 'swole' as I have plenty of success with girls due to my looks and frame alone.

Lol, can't believe we're talking about lifting on SDN :claps:

5'8", 155 lbs, 6.6% body fat
Bench: 185 for 5 reps
Squat: 235 for 5 reps
Deadlift (sumo): 235 for 5 reps

Hoping dental school won't make me skip the gym everyday..

In first year dental school and still manage to lift everyday...even on exam days .

Bench: 225lbs for 4 or 5 reps (max probably around 255ish)
Squat: 275lbs for 8 reps
Deadlift: 473lbs for 1 rep last year...probably around 365lbs for reps
Height: 5'11.5"
Weight: 170 lbs

Real question SDN....DYEL?

What grip on deadlifts do you use? Try using mixed grip...you can lift a lot heavier with it...don't use straps and gloves unless you wear a dress and high heels to the gym as well.

Bench 275 (5 reps)
Squat 335 (7 reps)
Mile 5:46 (best time)

Yeah. I know their not very good but I'm just starting out!!

I just use double overhand grip, but will try the mixed grip, thank you! I just wanted my grip to get stronger as well.

btw bench 225 5x5
squats 225 5x5
deadlifts max 415 ...raw mixed grip no straps no belt

body weight 178
height: 5'10
I'm also a personal trainer with a background in kinesiology applying this cycle

Dang bro, you must be going easy on the squats with those other lifts 😛. Solid stats though!

Saving up those legs for my Sunday and Monday basketball games. Preserving the knees by going all the way down, keeping my knees behind my toes. So it's really tough moving up but I'm fine with where I'm at.

Maybe try some front squats? Normally an easier lift to keep your form.

I do front squats ...crossed arms though instead of clean grip to preserve the wrist. lol.
I used to cross my arms but I had trouble increasing weight and doing higher volume reps. I find it's more of a shoulder felxability issue rather than an issue with the wrist!

Weakfart--I find that putting the weight over my center of mass with the bar resting on my clavicle, not wrists, take the strain out of my wrists. Remember, high elbows!

I, for one, intend on attending a school that I get admitted to. More details pending.

For front squats I like to cross my arms but to summarize g_squared, proper form is key to this exercise. For me, the bar rests on my shoulders. If you don't keep your elbows high the bar will tend to roll down away from your center of mass causing you to put in unnecessary effort in areas like your wrist, and even worse, your back.

Just getting back into running. So many good paths around where I live, and I forgot how good it makes you feel.

Ha I had to laugh that you mentioned rowing, not too many of us out there! I still row, one year left and I'm a lightweight with a 6:47 2k. Not fast at all but down from the barely sub 8 minute I did when I first started.

truthmaster--you're telling me! I rowed for a D3 school, and we had to compete against D1 schools because neither division of school had enough competitors! For a lightweight, that is a pretty decent 2K time! Where do you row?
