Mine didn't say congratulations 🙁 Maybe they were out!

Lol, it was in pretty small font and I didn't notice it until afterwards. I think just getting any big envelope in the mail after an interview is a pretty good indication of something 👍.

When I was playing the admissions game for undergrad (fun times by comparison), my Vandy acceptance letter came in a HUGE Priortiy Mail "flat-rate" envelope. However, my GA Tech acceptance letter was in a standard business envelope. I don't know why I am saying this, but I guess I feel like sharing.

I understand the need to share. Sometimes I like to post, even when I have nothing to say 🙂 Bored, I guess.

BUT HERE IS SOMETHING for you UT Memphis people

A list of instruments you'll need:
And the 2004 entering class data It's a pdf and many of you have already seen it, I'm sure.

Question for ya'll, has anyone heard if UT has finished their invites for the scholarship interviews?

Thanks.

Some of the Harvard professional schools send their acceptances in large boxes. Everyone gets a t-shirt and a ton of info.

Standard question is, "So, did you get the box, yet?"

Now, any school that sends me a cold beer in the mail will earn my love and undying affection.

hi! I'm wondering if there is anyone located in or near Memphis who may be interested in being a patient for my husband's dental exam, the SRTA, in April. We are really needing people to help us out! Anyone interested?

The exam is at the dental school and you will get treatment for free. My husband is finished with his dental education and this is the final step in licensure.

If this seems unrelated, sorry, (I usually post about med school topics), but we are just very desperate for some people to help us. Thank you so much!!!! 🙂

KatieJune. I sent you a private mail here on the sight.

Hey, has anyone heard anything back from filling out their FAFSA?? I filed mine in the beginning of January and recieved a green form in the mail which was just a review to send back if there were any errors.. Anyone know when we should heard anything else? This is the first time I've filed a FAFSA.

I was *hoping* that I would be returning for the weekend of the 19th...but so far have heard nothing about merit scholarships at all. In fact, haven't heard anything from Memphis since my acceptance letter a looooonnnng time ago. Do you know anything about when invites for the merit schol. are mailed out? Criteria for being interviewed ( i know only 15 are correct?). I am keeping my fingers very tightly crossed for some financial aid!

They're mailed out about this time of year. Sorry I can't be more specific than that right now.

The criteria? Good question... you gotta have good stats, but they don't have to be incredible. I think they're looking more for breadth of experience, leadership qualities etc. A lot rides upon the quality of your interviews and personal statement.

Another thing I forgot to mention, 10,000 plus posts on any message board or combination therof is an automatic rule-out for scholarship contention. 😛

I received the same letter last year saying that they had not yet made a decision about my application. I had to wait until April 1 (great date) for them to tell me that I was on the waitlist. I know this is not what you want to hear, but you just have to be patient. I ended up not getting in my first year off the waitlist, but I was accepted this year. Hopefully they won't make you wait like I had to. Good luck with everything though :luck:

So is this 'no decision' letter in between a waitlist and acceptance or between waitlist and rejection? I just got a 'no decision' letter. I can't believe this +pissed+

I would suspect that no decision means no decision. They haven't placed you anywhere.

When did you interview? I interviewed receintly, and I'm still looking for my letter.

Just out of curiosity, where are you located?

Right now I'm to the point of going nuts. I haven't been like this at all until now, but it's hit that time where I'm rushing home from work to check the mailbox (that is filled to the bring with nothing but, alas 🙁 , bills and credit card applications).

When were you guys interviewed?

I received that dreaded "no decision" letter a couple of weeks ago, and I am starting to believe that is where they put everybody who will be on the waitlist, they just dont tell them that yet!? Very frustrating as UT was my top choice and the waiting is driving me nuts 😡

Does anyone know if ETSU and UT talk to each other regarding acceptances? I got interviewed and accepted to ETSU really quick but I STILL haven't heard anything from UT in spite of repeated attempts to contact them (Charmagne where are you?). My thinking is that UT wouldn't offer me an interview if they know I already have an acceptance at ETSU. Any thoughts?

I will be heading to Memphis this weekend to look for apartments. First of all, am I late in the game? Here in Knoxville, it is still early in the apt hunting game. Second, can anyone recommend a safe and nice place to live in Midtown? I'm not sure if I am a Mud Island kind of person. Third, let's say I do end up on Mud Island in a one-bedroom and rent is 700 a month. Is financial aid enough to pay rent (I also have a car payment every month)? I tried talking to financial aid but they were completely unhelpful since they haven't reviewed FAFSAs yet.

Thanks in advance for any help 😀

A one bedroom on mud island might be possible, but it's a really bad move financially. There are plenty of places in Midtown that are much more affordable. Check out appartments on Peabody street. Do you have any objections to getting a roommate?

I doubt there are formal communications about admissions decidions. The head of admissions said they were going to wrap up the interviews in mid-March, but I'm really not sure. However, I doubt being accepted at ETSU affects your status at UTM.

Do people get put on the waitlist right now? I have a feeling that next time they review my application, there will only be waitlist spots available. Do you think maybe that's all it is, an unofficial 'soon-to-be-wait' list? Hmm...

Does anyone (especially current med students) know of people who were 'no decision'ed and then got in? I need either a boost in confidence or a reality check here.

Oh, and I interviewed the 7th of Feb, and I didn't get my letter until today.

I would seriously doubt that the collaborate or place any bearing on whether one school has accepted an applicant or not. However, if you just must know, contact Strother and Taylor and ask them. They are very up-front kind of people and would give you a straight answer.

jmmmmm,

There were some people last year who got the same letter and then they were waitlisted on April 1st, with a few later being offered an accpetance from the waitlist. In my opinion it looks like we have been placed in a pool from which they will derive their waitlist 😕

I would love to have a roommate, but as of right now I'll be flying solo. My buddy that was going to be my roommate got flat-out dropped by Memphis a couple of weeks ago. My only hope now is if another buddy of mine gets in to law school at U of Memphis. I don't know if I am down with the whole meet a stranger and move in with them shortly thereafter deal. Moving sucks enough as it is and I would rather not have to get to know someone at the same time.

Do you know anything about Greenlaw Place or the Georgian Woods?

Well, if they have not made up there mind, it could be because you should either get...

1) an acceptance out-right or the wiatlist or
2) a rejection out-right or the wiatlist

Ergo, if you get a "no decidion" letter, you are either just about to be accepted (if spots open in May) or on the cusp or rejection (no acceptance unless they run all the way through the waitlist). Also, if you go directly to the waitlist (at this point) then you are most likely in that great middle.

Yeah, I'm feeling more and more like this is just a pseudo-waitlist. So, does anyone know of people actually waitlisted right now?

I feel like I need another one of these: +pissed+

I'm in a masters program right now, and I thought I was going to be able to relax for the rest of the semester if I found out (especially for the HUGE cumulative exam I have in two weeks), but no... +pity+ +pity+

Anyway, hopefully I'll be seeing you guys next year. I'll still be apt searching.

Application Period
June 1 - November 15 of the year prior to admission.

The application and all related materials must be received by AMCAS by November 15.

Quillen College of Medicine's application deadline has changed to November 15. The November 15 deadline will go into effect this year for the 2006 entering class. Quillen College of Medicine also participates in the AMCAS Early Decision Program with applications due by August 1.

trinitrotoluene,

I dont think that the no decision letter could mean that you are about to get accepted if spots open up in May, because it said in the letter that they would let us know of a decision by April 1st. Also of the three people on this board who I have seen get this letter all three were put on the waitlist April 1st and two of them were pulled off later on.

I am really curious to find out whether or not anyone has been waitlisted yet??

Won't it be cheaper if we get this stuff during orientation? I heard that they have reps that sell this stuff at a discount. Or, do you recommend that we get this now?

No. I guess that it means...

1) They need more information from you.
2) They don't know if you should be at the top of the waitlist or be accepted.
3) They don't know if you should be at the bottom of the waitlist or be rejected.

However, it's just a guess.

*sigh* 🙁

I got one of the letters, too. Really not happy about this.

My guess is that the waitlist is opening on April 1 for all the rest of us poor fools for God only knows how long.

Just got to keep the head up and keep headin' down the road, I guess.

Yeah, I worked at utm for a summer, and I probably ate subway twice because of the line.

About the stethoscopes: is there some point that we will get a discount? That's what I heard from someone (not about UT, though), so I was planning on waiting. Should we not?

Good question. Anybody know? I found one "real cheap" on ebay and bought it but I have friends who are still looking.

I'll buy one if UTM accepts me off their waitlist in July (the only way I'll get in).

I'm going to do some moping now. ::tears::

Hey Geronimo, did you get the Littmann Cardiology III? If so, how much did you get it for on eBay? Thanks
