Hello-

Anyone here on the "6-8 weeks" crap receive a recent interview invite?

They sent me the notification on Nov 8, so it's been about 8 weeks. Tried calling them but no help at all.

Is there any hope of getting an invite at all? I'm so damn tired and fed up with this stupid process...

Thanks

Qwest,
I got my "interested in your candidacy but your priority score is too low" notification on Halloween. Yes, it has been more than 6-8 weeks since I have obessessively checked my status online every chance I get. Finally decided to email Audrey Walker today to find out what the heck is going on. Did you call them and get the run around? I will keep you posted on my situation as I hope you will do the same. Would love to interview at MCV.

hey guys, i got the 6-8 weeks notice in oct/november as well however in late december my status changed and i just interviewed this week.....i know its tough but hang in there...calling them is useless....they give you the same crap......i was shocked when i got the i'm out of state too...they are faster with instaters i guess......i wish i could help more.....

Hey guys, hang in there. Qwest, you might try an sending an email about how interested you are, blah blah. Seems like it couldn't hurt. If you've already done that....I dunno. Do you have any other interviews in the VA/DC area--you could ask if they could schedule you to coordinate with those interviews. At least you'd have a reason to be writing to them again. Sorry, I guess I'm not much help either. Such a weird system they've got...

anxiousmed, what did you think of the place? I'm heading there next week. I have an extra day in richmond due to poor planning...any suggestions for something to do?

VCU sends secondaries to far fewer out-of-state applicants than residents, and to less than half of the residents. According to the MSAR, for 2001 there were 774 Virginia applicants, 316 were interviewed, 112 were in the class. (Note: the # accepted was not 112; more, but how many more is not given, were offered places. From 2,858 out-of-state applicants, 611 were offered interviews, 295 were interviewed, 68 were in the class. (Again, the number OFFERED places is not given.

Of the 180 students IN THE CLASS, 65 were science majors; 31 with graduate degrees, 5 of them doctoral degrees; 66% Virginia residents; 48% women; overall undergrad GPA 3.47; mean MCAT score 9.6.

I have relinquished my spot at VCU, so someone should be added. I hope so....that's why I did it now rather than later... it helps every body to do so earlier.

Good Luck
Zingy

Thanks Zingy for relinquishing that much coveted spot for out of staters like Qwest and myself. 🙂
By the way, does anyone know the basis for which they grant interviews once we're placed on hold? I guess maybe anxiousmed would be the best person to enlighten us on this? Did you call or email often after you received the hold? Also, did you send in any sort of update letter of your activities and grades?
I still haven't heard back from Audrey Walker. Am not even sure if she's the right person to contact. (On the website, she's listed as the contact person for application status.)
I'll just have to sit back and stay 😎
