I also got an email from SMU. They invited me down for an interview on the 22nd of Jan. They are pretty strict on their GREs. in fact they even had a lil disclaimer on the bottom of my email stating if I want to be admitted I must retake my GREs over by may of next year. I scored a 440 in verbal, they need a 450.

I was in the same boat, too. I scored 430 on Verbal and have yet to hear from SMU. Thinking it's because of the score. Thankfully they're giving you a second chance. It's funny cause UCSF did the same thing with me. Asked me to retake the GRE before my interview lol.

Just got my SMU invitation the other day. Does anyone know if they're flexible with the interview date? I'm having trouble reaching anyone over there. As these things go, I have a conflict with another school and would have to change my flight to include it in my already crazy travel plans.

Also, I read that SMU's final 6 month internship doesn't charge the normal tuition rate but only a minimal internship fee - making a nice cut into the total cost. Does anyone know how these new California tuition hikes have affected the UCSF program? Is their prog now more expensive than the private education at SMU?

This interview invitation is being extended on the condition that your fall 2011 courses will raise your GPA to the minimums. You will need to submit unofficial grade reports for your fall 2010 classes prior to January 14, 2011 in time for those admission decisions. Please confirm.

I didn't take any more classes this fall. Considering others here got ones for GRE, I can only assume that they expected me to continuing raising my GPA in order to be considered.

Yeh that sounds like a waste of time unless you're going to take classes in the spring? Unless you're unhappy w USA I would just relax and be done with the ordeal. Be happy you're going to school for PT🙂

Jojo2go - My interview's on the 22nd, same as others.

GRE: v: 680 q: 710 a: 4.5

I worked out SMU's tuition to 100K total for 3 years. I think SFSU/UCSF was at 60K before this whole budget mess, I doubt it's gone up over SMU though.

Jojo2go and unlikeall - I am a DPT student at SMU and was in the same boat. Got a 380 then a 440 on the GRE verbal and had to retake it. The nice thing is, you can do it if you take the time to study, and you can skip through the math and written and ONLY do the verbal. This took a lot of the pressure off because I only had to focus on verbal. Best of luck!

Albyhungry - I would email the program and ask if you are interested in SMU. Usually if you do not have the required GPA, they tell you before an interview, but I would email for clarification. Everyone should be in the office on Monday the 3rd.

This is "the one" school I really wish I will be able to get accepted to.. Fortunately I have a good solid year until I submit my application. Any tips will be helpful. I plan on taking the GRE pretty soon. I have 2 semesters of pre-reqs left. Blumonsoon, any helpful advice regarding the per-reqs --> application --> interview --> acceptance processes? I haven't heard anything from SMU yet eitherr and now from your comment it might because I scored a 430 on verbal (even after 3 tries). Depressing 🙁

I have a questions for you folks... Is it okay to take non-sequenced Biology prerequisites? I'm having a hard time getting into/adding the sequenced bio courses for majors. However, I did get my Microbiology class. The only other bio class I've taken was a GE requirement as an undergrad, and was intro to life science. Will taking non-sequenced biology courses, be a waste of time? Harm my chances in getting accepted to schools that require sequenced?
