When requesting letters of rec, I know there's a form for tmdsas you give the professor to accompany the letter, but what about for amcas? I read on their website there is a form, but there wasn't a link that I could find. My advisor at tech said we have a committee letter, and I need to get the professors to write the letters and give them to the premed office. The premed office would then send the letters off in a packet. I think this means the professors need to write 2 letters (one for tmdsas and one for amcas)?

Please help, I'm so utterly confused and I know I shouldn't be..

Have the professors send their letter to your school's premed advisory office, then the office should have a form you fill out in which you request they send copies of your letters to both AMCAS and TMDSAS. You'll only do this once those respective applications are open and you're registered with them, of course.

When you create a LOR entry in AMCAS you can download and print the form.

So I shouldn't approach my professors until may when the application opens right? That would only give them a month to write the LOR is that ok?

You should approach them, but you won't be able to file the letter with AMCAS until the application opens up.

Approach them and ask if they're able to write you one- give them plenty of advance notice and tell them you'll need it by X date.

It also depends if your school has a committee letter. My school has one and all of the letters need to be to them by a certain date- not to AMCAS.
