care to share your story? did you get in after being pushed into the regular pool? did you get in somewhere else that cycle? did you apply again next cycle? do you know why you didn't get in?

did you think it was a mistake to apply EDP?

I applied EDP to my top choice school and I did get in, so I think it was a good decision....although when I was applying I knew my GPA was about the same as their average and my MCAT was above, plus my dad's an alum, so I knew I had a good shot anyway. If I could do it over I'd apply more places just to see where else I could have gotten in, but I still would choose where I am over other schools.

My school does EDP. I did it and got in, but those who don't fall in with the late applicants. If you have average stat's, I would say it is a very big risk. Usually EDP is for above avg applicants who know where they want to go and the school likely want them too. If rejected, you end up in the big pool and about 6months late....... better find a way to stand out.

any other stories?

I heard that it isn't a good idea to apply early decision unless you talk with the dean and let him know you're intentions. He usually will gauge your competitiveness and determine if you're reasons are sufficient to warrant EDP consideration. Do you have any specific reasons for why you want to go EDP, i.e. spouse goes to school there, family responsibilities, unique program? EDP is usually reserved for these circumstances. If you don't have concrete reasons, it's more of a crapshoot.
