I've been desperately waiting to hear back from one school, my cheapest option, but nothing yet.
My application was complete in mid-September, and I'm starting to feel like the ship had sailed.

Anyone else in the same boat, craving for an invite from that one school in your mind?

This whole process is so exhausting.. but not that I didn't expect it to be.. 🙂

Yes, I am. I know how you feel. By the tone of your thread, it sounds like you have, at the very least, received invites SOMEWHERE else? If so, be thankful for those interviews. Some people are still sittin' on 0 invites. The dental school admissions process is hyper competitive and very tiring, obviously you know what I'm talking about lol. Again, let's hope for the best for our "dream schools" while maintaining gratitude for the interview opportunites we've gotten. Personally, I don't care where I get in, as long as I get in.

Everything you wrote is right. I applied to only a handful of schools that I thought, at the time of my application submission, I would be able to afford, and got a couple of invites. Unfortunately, my family's financial situation has only worsen since then, and now, it seems like I won't be able to attend the schools I got invites from even if I get in..
Cost is a very, very important factor, since I am an international student. If I were to take out loans, I need to look for a U.S citizen co-signer, which seems impossible atm. But again, I will hope for the best for our "dream schools", and for my family's current situation 🙂 Thanks so much for your encouraging words!

This.

I'm in the same boat here. There's one school in particular I would love to get an invite to however I haven't gotten any interviews this cycle so I would be overjoyed to hear from at least one. Good luck to everyone still waiting 👍

I am!!!

There are 2 schools I would really really really really like to hear from. Haven't been rejected from them. I'm OOS to both of them so I'm a little worried b/c lots of schools send OOS interview invites out first. Personally, I would happy getting anywhere, but would rather get into those 2 schools I want, so I could save a boatload on tuition.

I've gotten interviews to a few schools this cycle and have loved all of them, so I'd be more than happy to go to any one of them! There is, however, one school (Maryland) that I've been set on attending since 9th grade and I'm definitely crossing my fingers that I get to at least interview with them and am not flat-out rejected. Maybe that seems greedy, in light of everything, I don't know.

Before posting threads like these, think about people who have zero invites..
Comments like this irk me. Everyone's situation is different. We all are pretty damn fortunate to even be in a place in life where we can afford to apply. If you or anyone else has 0 invites, that's unfortunate, but it doesn't preclude the rest of us (the vast majority of applicants) from talking about our experiences. This thread is not insensitive.

Basically the same feelings I have! Except replace Maryland with Tufts

Agreed. I have zero invites and I personally see no issue with these threads. Just because there are those of us with no interviews doesn't mean the ones who do should have to wait for us to start discussions. Yeah it sucks seeing people with multiple invites but if everyone waited for everyone to get invites to start discussions about this stuff there wouldn't be much to talk about. That being said, lets get back on topic before this thread derails.

Dear Temple and Louisville

It's been a while since the last time we talked, I remember it was 3 months ago and you were very excited and even asked me to send you a check that will go towards our first "date" together. I was excited to see that you gladly cashed my check shortly after you received it because I thought our rendezvous will occur shortly. Well, months had passed and you did not call back, I tried to email you but I got "CHECK WITH AADSAS" automatic message, I tried to call but I got your assistant telling me to "be patient ". I hope you're fine and did not forgot about my existence.

Best Regards,
Aal.

I'm in the same situation.... However being optimistic, as long as you haven't gotten a rejection letter it still means you're still under consideration for a possible interview for early spring.

Oh, I am sorry if I irked you people who have multiple interviews...

I've been on the side with 0 interviews and this second time around, I've gotten multiple interviews. During the cycle with 0 interviews, I'd get upset about reading about those with a bunch but that doesn't mean you diminish their hard-work with comments like those. Besides, isn't this platform meant to discuss the application process/interviews/schools/etc. Just because you currently have none doesn't mean you should bring other people down. If it bothers you that much, there's no point of commenting on the forums.

In a case where the school I'm waiting to hear from isn't very OOS-friendly, would it be a good idea to email the admissions office expressing my interest in that school? Or should I leave it to chance?

Dem grapes be sour.

While I've been more than pleased by the schools I've been invited to, there is one where I would attend an interview deep into 2014 even after laying down a deposit elsewhere.

Time will tell.

You've piqued my interest... enough to make a post and to Google whether it's piqued or peaked

Dear Louisville and Minnesota,
I paid a lot of money to get a yes or a no, and at this point, I really don't care which it is, I just paid enough to get an answer.

Sincerely,

A pissed, paying customer with above average stats.

Minnesota is just pokey, according to some admissions people there. c: I just heard from them a few weeks ago and have a pre-December interview for next week. Instate and applied in late July/early August. Don't give up on them, they're just super slow!

Does anyone have any advice on this? I know it seems really weird to do this for dental school but I remember having to do it for undergrad to get off of wait lists, so that's why I ask

+1

I would like to know this as well. I am located kind of far away from my top school choices and I was wondering whether I should call them, especially if I do not hear from them on Dec 2 week.

Have you tried calling to see how likely an invitation would be. You may not like the answer but you will at least know.

As long as you are courteous and express gratitude for their help there is nothing wrong with calling the admissions secretary. I never hurts to develop a good relationship with a secretary. They have more influence than you would think.
