Anyone else have gotten zero replies from DO schools?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
it certainly must be the DO letter. Also the fact that you applied to the DO schools that have about MD stats I believe. I haven't looked up their stats but CCOM and PCOM I believe are pretty high up there in average stats compared to other DO schools that have been recently opened (by "recently" I mean like past 4-5ish years.. if any have) ... I hope this makes sense lolz

I applied from around August, through September, and October but havent heard from a single one of these schools regarding II decisions. CCOM told me my file is still under review.

MCAT: 30, gpa : 3.5, i mean, if im a poor applicant then shouldn't i have gotten a rejection or two already?

Schools applied to:

CCOM
Rowan
NYIT
Both Edward Via
Both PCOM
Nova
UNE
Touro-NY

My stats are close to yours. I was complete everywhere early September. The schools our lists have in common are: CCOM, NYIT, Both PCOMs, Nova, and Touro-NY.

Only Touro-NY of those schools replied back to me.

and I had no DO letter.

i had a DO letter, and got rejected at CCOM and ATSU-KCOM, but was put on hold pre-interview at AZCOM. I kinda see that as somewhat positive....

I'm wondering if I should just sign up for a formal postbacc at midwestern.

Did u send in everything on day one? How are your ECs if u don't mind me asking?

U did get interviews so that's a good sign..

Verified in October finished secondaries and getting letters in by end of October.
500+ hours DO, 125 hours MD, 350 hours volunteering in rehab center, more shadowing than EC

Most relevant work experience was working as a delivery driver for a pharmacy. Besides that I also worked accounts payable for an accounting office.

No non-clinical volunteering experience

hmm.. I mean I'm no expert or anything... but after lurking on this site for a while I would have to say it is PROBABLY the MCAT score that has schools being iffy. I mean u did get interviews which is a good thing.. but did you feel you did well on them? Have you contacted the schools that rejected you and asked WHY? Please do that ASAP if you haven't already

Are those reject/hold responses post-interview? If not, I would be optimistic. From last year's Underdawg thread, similar stats to yours got acceptances in Feb.

Yeah I know my MCAT isn't very good. I have completed one interview so far and one more this Friday. My two rejections were post secondary.

Rejections and holds were post secondary. I completed an interview yesterday and I have one scheduled this Friday. Thanks for the support! I want at least two more interviews to increase my chances, hopefully some schools closer west.

Oh! So you still have some hope man! Don't worry. You'll get in somewhere especially if you are nailing those interviews!

I was complete in late august/early september but got a new MCAT score september 15. I applied to 21, I currently have 9 II (attended 3), 1 hold, 1 pre interview rejection, and have not heard back from 10. Luckily I heard from all of my top schools, but I find it strange that I have not heard from 10 since it does not seem like there are any red flags in my app based on my success at other schools. The process is mysterious. Hopefully you will start hearing from schools soon.

I too am in the same boat. complete in mid October. Lots of clinical experience and volunteering.

Nothing.

Got an email from PCOM. My application is still incomplete with them. I have sent them 5 letters: 1 MD, 1 DO, and 3 science letters. They are really frustrating me.

Besides the email from them, I have yet to hear from any other schools.

Is it ever okay to email to ask about application status (i.e. if I'm on pre-interview hold, do admissions usually send an email?)

I have been complete at CCOM, KCUMB, LMU-DCOM, and Western for almost 2 months now. Other schools that I've gotten interviews for usually got back to me within 2 weeks. I am starting to wonder if I have been placed on pre-interview hold but don't want to be blunt by emailing the admissions.

Email KCUMB and ask what's up.

Call LMU-DCOM because some people have needed to call them because they did not get an interview invite through email.

Do you think there is a chance to get an ii this week or are most schools on winter break already?

Complete early august....still have yet to hear a word from Nova, CCOM, AZCOM.

I have not heard from half (6/12) the schools I applied to. 6 interviews, 6 silences. Very weird.

for the record: if you apply broadly on day 1 with 3.2/3.2/24 or 3.0/3.0/26 or better, and have no red flags, you should have a favorable chance of at least 1 acceptance.

Do you know of any schools that won't review your app until you finish all pre-reqs? I think there was someone put on hold by AZCOM for fall grades... I wonder if more schools do that. Currently taking (and being destroyed by) ochem II.

Not an uninteresting thought. I just finished ochem II today and have yet to hear from AZCOM, CCOM, or NOVA

Is this really still true? I applied with a 65 LizzyM and had a rough ride..I think things are significantly more competitive than even last year...

Hm... And if I'm remembering correctly, the person who was put on hold for ochem grade was accepted to Touro-ca, like you. Might be a coincidence. But I definitely wish I knew that not having pre-reqs done can be a disadvantage.

Btw, did the acceptance letter require you to obtain a certain grade in ochem II?

Yup needed a C.

I got interviewed by AZCOM two months ago. Just finished physics 2 last week.

They may put applicants on hold for orgo but not for physics. I dunno.

Thanks for letting us know. In that case, I guess it's probably dependent on the applicant, not their general policy.

Did they also require you to get at least a C this semester?

I'm sure anything less would have been a good reason to rescind my acceptance, but nothing was stated specifically.

I have similar stats to a lot of you. 3.5 gpa, 30 MCAT. Shadowed a DO, lots of good EC's and recent community and clinical volunteering. Got an interview at LECOM-B, but nothing from others. Admittedly I was complete at schools between October and November.

Like user3 said. Apply Broadly and Early..

Have any of you guys heard back from schools recently? I have one acceptance, two new rejections and like three new holds since my last update on this thread.

I made a thread about this too a bit ago, but I haven't heard much of anything. Post-interview waitlist at Lecom-B, pre-interview hold at AZCOM, and silence from everyone else. 3.5cGPA 3.2sGPA, 29MCAT 9PS/10BS/10V , all the other boxes checked.

Thinking about throwing in a last minute effort to WVSOM and Marian, maybe TouroNV. Thoughts?

I think it might be a little too late, but things happen! If you don't mind spending the extra money go for it, you might be lucky! Best of luck to you!
