That's how Iowa was for me. I got my Master's at Southern. Go Salukis!

I'm here too - was kinda sad as I couldn't belong to any club after getting a couple of interviews, but now I have a new home! Thanks!

IDforMe said:SIU Carbondale? (I don't know if they have anything but the last three years of med school at the Springfield Campus) Either way, what were your impressions of Southern? Anything you could tell me good or bad would be much appreciated.

Yeah, that's too bad. Springfield doesn't jump to the fromt of my mind when I think of fun. Carbondale is a great college town surround by the beautiful Shawnee National forest and lakes (Devil's Kitchen and Little Grassy lakes). There's even a small lake on campus with a trail around it. It is definite rural town, but I really enjoyed my time there.IDforMe said:SIU Carbondale? Is Two Rivers in Palisades? That name sounds familiar. Mmmmm...reisling...ShyRem said:Riesling. A nice QMP. From Germany. Maybe two or three bottles. Hey, Two Rivers here in Grand Junction makes a very nice Riesling. We'll have that, too.

IDforMe said:Great! I'd prefer a rural environment anyhow. The bike trails are also a definite plus.
BTW, since it's now into the next morning, I guess I'll have to take a raincheck on the Riesling with you, Shy and gdbaby. I just watched the first of a 6-part (three night) program on PBS called "Rx for Survival: A Global Health Challenge". You guys should definitely check it out. It's on from 9-11 (central time) the next two days. It would be useful background info for interviews... If they'd ever start inviting me to them, that is.
jtank said:hey, at least you have an interview at chicago med coming up, i would be so happy if they invite me..
IDforMe said:Just looked at your stats, I'm sure you'll be hearing from them soon! 👍
And I have to say I'm jealous about Rochester. What did you think of them?
gdbaby said:Hey ID,
When you go
to Chicago
tell them that Jt
and Gd
would love to be
interviewees!
gdbaby said:Bump.
kaffy said:I don't know anything about applying to med school. I applied to a few schools that I thought were good - turns out most of them are very competitive. I wish I had known this. Please don't make fun of me....but if you want to see where i applied and why I am sweatin' it now

jtank said:yes u definitely did apply to top-25 schools, but the good news is that u have few interviews already, and with ur good numbers, ur bound to get in somewhere![]()

kaffy said:thanks for saying that...I know I sound like a whiny baby - I am just clueless about this process... 😕
daviddamoore said:p.s. why do the no interviews and no acceptances threads have 0_o in the names???
tacrum43 said:Well you're doing pretty well anyway. Your GPA is very good for an engineering major. And being a Texas resident with your numbers, you would have to do something terrible at your interview not to get in.
If you feel clueless, you might want to pick up a copy of the MSAR, but really, you're kinda past that point now, and you're doing very well.
kaffy said:Do you think that schools make distinctions with majors? It is pretty hard to make a 4.0 no matter what your major - do you think they look at that and say - oh, this person was a such-and-such and he made a 4.0, that means more than a 4.0 in some other major?
ShyRem said:y'know, every once in a while my inner child comes out during this process and I feel like throwing myself on the ground, kicking and punching the carpet screaming at the top of my lungs about how incredibly unfair the whole thing is. And then I want to eat with my hands, fingerpaint, throw food against the wall to see if it sticks.... and then....
and then....
then I realize a glass of good wine will have to do instead.
*sigh*
hoberto said:ID what is that cat doing in your avatar?
I'm confused. 😕

LowlyPremed said:Is it too late to join the club? I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired so I'm going to whine. I dreamt that I was invited for one interview and for some reason I didn't prepare for the interview. I tried reading about the school while waiting to speak with the dean. Here's to feeling sorry for yourself (you can't see me but I'm in my apartment getting drunk by myself and making a toast to the computer screen) 😉
crazy_cavalier said:I really hope they do. I don't care what anyone says, when you're an engineering major, an A is tough to get. EE, ChemE, and BME have tough/demanding engineering curricula, and my "mediocre" gpa seems low in comparisan but was actually earned with quite a lot of hard work.
